"I have very sad news to report: my best friend dan Gordon-Levitt merged with the Force on Sunday night. It was a tragic accident. I was with him when he passed, and he was not in pain or afraid. If you know details, please don't spread them around on the internet. I'll post when we get memorial plans sorted. There will be a small party on Friday night, and a big beautiful wake when we're ready."

Hardly a problem, Clare.

Never met him or talked to him, but the bit I have seen of his spinning makes me sad that I will not see more.

It always looked like he was enjoying it so much, and it sounds like that was his approach to life as well.

'We're all mad here. I'm mad, you're mad." [said the Cat.]
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here."

I don't think I ever met Dan but a lot of people on my FB friends list obviously have.

It is always sad to lose a member of the community. The effects spread far beyond the immediate group of close friends.

My thoughts go out to those who have lost someone that obviously brought so much happiness to so many people.

Dan was a truly exceptional person with an inspirational outlook on life

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourself, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous and talented? Who are you NOT to be?

Wow, I haven't been to this site in years. But it is here that I first learned of Dan and, like many of you, have been touched by his presence in the community over the years.

RIP Dan, you were definitely loved.

Good to see Durbs is still around here. (I think I have you and Suibom and Claire on FB?)

I guess most of us are all up on Facebook now, posting our sadness when the news was leaked.

Watermelon Dan will be sorely missed, one of the greatest guys I've had the pleasure of spending time and spinning with.

EDIT: And I will NEVER FORGET when he got two hot girls to put tigerbalm on my nipples my first Firedrums.

It is a shame that it takes such an 'event' (for lack of a better word) to get back in contact with friends.

seems to be a lot of people popping back in here after a long leave of absence... myself included.

I never met Dan, but I've heard many stories, particularly ones involving tiger balm. My condolences to all who knew him.

As a tribute to Dan I brought a jar of tiger balm to the last Seattle tech spinners jam; many of the people there had just been to the Pacific Fire Gathering where they'd met Dan for the first time. The balm got used.
