Ola! I'm new to this site but not totally 100% new to poi spinning. I dabbled a few years ago, learned a few basic moves but then sadly drifted away from that circle of friends (and the yard with spinning space) and so lapsed from the spinning.

I'm also a kiter - been flying kites for nearly 4 years, buggy racing for 3 - and when there's no wind the circus toys come out, hence the renewed interest. I have a mate who juggles fire sticks (well he tries to) and I've been thinking about investing in a set of firepoi for entertaining campsites.
Need to go back to basics and re-learn a few things though.

Yay thanks smile

Forgot to mention I can do butterfly, thread the needle, split time hip reels and forwards 3-beat weave. All only in one direction though. I used to know more but lost in the mists of time.
The backwards/reverse weave is my nemesis!

I'm at Strathclyde Uni - although it's summer now so I won't be back til september - so if there's any spinners in/around Glasgow, give me a shout.

(and omg how expensive are monkeyfist poi? lol)

They are worth EVERY penny! If only I had started out with them... The only thing I feel dumb about in terms of dropping cash on a hobby, but now I'm a fire addict always itching to burn and begging for a spotter!!! grin

Welcome to HoP and I'm a firm monkey fist recommender!

Yeah I'm pretty close to the Rock. The cliffs on the western side (if I have my mental compass right) hold the serious climbing challenge. So serious I've never seen anyone climb them lol. There are some nice big boulders to play on too.
It's ancient volcanic rock and bits of it have been worn to a super smooth polished finish by generations of scramblers.

News on the monkeyfist front - my best friend bought me them for an early birthday present! grin Woohoo!

I suck at shoulder reels.
