Hey everyone, I havent properly introduced myself, so i figured I'd do it here and post a video of where I am progress-wise.

My name is Dave Statik. I live in maine (No its not a part of canada, its actually a state, lol.) Ive been spinning since March 2nd 2010, and was instantly addicted, and I have thrown myself into the arts. I have done 3 public performances, but it was just spinning fire at the park for passers by.

In this video I made today, I tried to touch on everything I could think of. I know my flow and movement needs work, and some of my moves could use tightening, but please go easy on me, lol I'm technically still new. This is my first video. And I hope you like it, despite youtube blocking the song, lol. how do you fix that???

Holy censored That's really really good for what? Almost 3 months now? Like, insane unless my month counting is off, which it is often. But even for 4 months that would be pretty damn awesome!

The only luck is bad luck.

Shut up before I stall my poi up your ass grin

Really? well..thank you. lol tongue2 I can really use some catching up on my technique i think. Like, I try to learn new moves before I perfect the previous ones. Makes me sloppy i think.

Yeah I'm the same way and don't worry, cleanness will come with time and practice. People told me I learned really fast, and it looks like we have another one grin I just kinda think it has to do with how much freetime you put into it. I hope you enjoy this wonderful world of poi bounce2

The only luck is bad luck.

idk, i just watched ur new flowlights vid. given, it was dark, but you seem to have great flow, and no need for complex movements to create a great looking show.

I agree on the free time thing. its not how many years, or months or days, its how many hours I think. If i put 10 hours of straight poi in one day, thats could be another spinners entire week or more of practice.

Yeah, that's pretty much it right there. When I first started, for the first 2 or 3 months I was going 4-5 hours a day of practice. I've gotten pretty techy, but then I hear music and pretty much what you saw tends to take over. I'm sure we'd all like to see you outside in the open freestyling to some music to see more of your style. It's great fun anyways smile

How many hours a day on average do you tend to put in? Also what kind of music do you like to spin to?

The only luck is bad luck.

Despite the appearance of bright like in the windows, it was actually raining, otherwise i'd be outside, lol. Well if the weathers nice maybe i can work that out. as long as the ex lets me hold on to the camera lol (borrowing it.)

I do about 2 or 3 hours on weekdays, in little 15-20 minute sessions. gotta have beers, smokes and facebook inbetween haha. On weekends it depends can be anywhere from 2-3 hrs to 5-8 for the whole weekend. here and there its an all night thing.

I personally like to spin to energetic music. Some of my favorites include, "I Know You Want Me" by Pitbull; "Closer to Heaven" by Astrix; "Galang" by M.I.A.; "Temperature" by Sean Paul; "Beauty Beats" by Beats Antique (of course); "Fire" by Scooter and then pretty much any song with some energy in it as long as I don't choose it because I'm very indecisive grin
