Godzilla vs. a Star Wars Star Destroyer. Who wins? Why?
I'd say the Star Wars Star Destroyer for obvious reasons. Godzilla's big 'n' all, but come on. Really? The Star Destroyer is massive, and's got lazer cannons comin' out the yin-yang. Godzilla could knock a plane out of the air no prob, but a friggin' Star Destroyer? 'Nuff said.
Favorite TV show(s): Mythbusters, and various other stuff.
Plans for life in general: (i.e. what you want to do when you grow up)
A musician.
Favorite Music Artists/Composers: Many, but I gain inspiration for my musical sounds from NOFX, Muse, Dir en Grey, The Offspring, The Decemberists, John Mayer, Against Me!, and many more.
Do you think these pants make my butt look too big? Yes.
Favorie ice cream flavor(s): Vanilla. (don't say it's a boring flavor just 'cause it's white. The process to make vanilla is FAR more complicated and effort-ridden than any other flavor.)
Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella? Nutella FTW.
I joined these forums mainly so I can have even more contact with fire spinners. My brother has been spinning for a while, so I'm not too far from expert advice, but he doesn't live at home anymore, so I'm further from said advice than normal.
I'm completely new to firespinning myself. I've been to fire jams with my brother on many occasions as a photographer, but I've always wanted to pick it up myself. My brother spins poi and breaths, however I'm more interested in the staff. I've picked up many great safety tips from my brother, so in that department, I have the know-how. However with fire staff equipment, I have no idea what to look for.
Which leads to my first question: what should I be looking for when buying my fire staff? I'm pretty sure I wanna buy the BlazeLink Break-Down staff, mainly because it breaks down for portability, but also has interchangeable staff end-pieces so that I can switch between a wick, practice, or glow piece while still using the same staff. (here's the staff: https://www.firemecca.com/p-931-blazelink-break-down-contact-fire-staff.aspx)
I know I want a long fire staff, but what size wick should I go for? Obviously as a beginner I wont light-up until I've had plenty of practice, but still -- is the only difference between small and large wicks the flame size and weight? And should I start with a smaller flame and increase size later?
I'll stop now as I probably shouldn't turn this into a fire staff topic rather than an introduction.

Posted: Welcome! I do not do staff much but someone should be along shortly.
You could try the technical section or the beginners' staff section....
