So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

I share the shower-hatred, too!! But what's worse, the 2 different tabs in a sink, WHY? It's so easy to get a proper mix one!! and the 2 usually give you a mix of freezing and boiling when washing your hands...

Ha! How many times have I whined about that one! It seems that WARM water technology has not yet hit the UK. The've got hot and cold down pat, but the warm... not yet figured out. confused

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Exactly right! I found it really bizarre. And quite torturous honestly. I was in various parts for about 2 months, and while I was in more than comfortable accomodation throughout, I was too glad to arrive in Paris (4 day backpacking trip), despite the teensy tiny motel room and the smoggy air outside, just to be able to turn on a proper tap and take a real shower.

The worse thing about the British 'shower' contraptions that I witnessed, not only was hot and cold separated, but the water pressure was a massive, superpowerful, gushing drip. An ant would have had difficulty taking a shower where I was. And at my folks largish place in the country, the pressure of the hot water tap varied depending how high the showerhead was! So, at knee level it was boiling, and at head level the water was say about three degrees from being ice.

To top off my shower misery, one day I stepped into the shower and the water died halfway. " help What's going on!" I yelled. I figured the underfloor piped heating they were installing had done something to the water supply.

Oh no, I'm not that lucky. My stepdad yells back,

"The well's dried up!"

it hurts alot.. but think of the satisfaction once you have it :P if we dont hear from you later tonight, then we will know that the poi have claimed another victim...

im not looking foward to the winter, more the autumn, i feel like i have been living in permenant winter for the last 4 years... now i need my summer dose (or sun at least). have been LOVING the last couple of days, clear skys, not too hot...

i havnt actually seen a 7bt, so cant comment at this stage, but i think my head will collapse if i think about it too much... i still cant do any turns with my btb weave, just go into it and come out of it alive at this stage :P

melbourne is a great place too... but i have been there done that at this point in my life, and to tell you the truth the weather isnt as bad as everyone makes out.. you just get used to it, and realise there will be no sun... ever...

poi-ing together would be great bounce yeah i have been invited to the kangaroo point gathering, but unfortunately it is on thursday nights.. and i have been working on thurs nights up until this point, and as luck would have it, it is going to be the only night of the week i am at uni until 9.30 *growls* so unfair frown but if you want to catch up some time give me a yell (PM) and i will send you my number smile bounce bounce2 how exciting!!!

hopefully there is the good news tonight that a new move has been born for you, and there have been no casualties along the way smile

Good, good. Today was quite eventful. The very affable Phaerie and I went for a bit of a play in a park this afternoon, and that was heaps of fun. For someone whose been poiing for three weeks, she'd fool anyone into thinking she'd been poiing for years!

Rushed back just after and rushed out again to go for a skate- did a nice route around the city and surrounds, stopping midway for a drink in a pub (skater friendly!) with some live music. Had a bit of a tumble after (no it wasn't because I can't handle my liquor *hic*), but I'm good. Bit of skin off, but I need a reminder every now and then..

Passed thru Kangaroo Point cliffs on the way back and spoke to some twirlers and Chris from www.divineimagination.com, and it was neat to find out who's around.

But yeah, super late dinner and a couple of emails later, I discover an eBay auction of mine ended at £140, which is good because it's about 8 times what I initially paid for it.

Overall, I dare say I'm having a great day, and it's just about enough to spill over to fill tomorrow's quota biggrin

Working in a cocktail bar? Do you flair? I have a friend who's really good, I learnt a couple of moves, but at some point decided that a bottle in the head hurts more than a poi in the face..

myco: lol he's over here in brissie, cos it's the place to be! Phaerie'll tell ya wink sunny

Phae: How's your housewarming prep going? I just rang Eagleboys (yummy!) and they're doing 5.95 each on orders above 10. mmmm pizza.

And more like 9 days now. I thought you'd have been looking forward to going back- you know, turning people into living pin cushions (jus cos you can...) devil

myco: I did me some talking to the sun, and I said I didn't like the way he got this done, sleeping on the job.. cool Well anyway, after a foppy excuse, gender ambiguous did say that flights Brissie-Melbourne aren't that exy wink

housewarming prep- well... at this stage we are completely unorganised as usual, and nothing has happened... and as mentioned above i will be moving house all day, so i think it will be a last minute party, which is how they all work biggrin

and yeah, i am looking foward to uni, EXCEPT for the fact that it means i have commitments again, and living with no work and no uni has been bliss the last month or so!

but yeah, looking foward to treating again, havnt managed to do any treatments except for one guy the last 3 months!

Hey how did your housewarming go? Mine was pretty interesting- the excessive pizza and alcohol mysteriously turned into twister, balderdash, latin dancing, a mini circus and swim.

Also, Phae, I know I'm playing catch up (I'm sure at least one person's sniggering at this newbie elucidation), but I've been making progress on the btb weave weavesmiley biggrin

was all good... lots of people i hadnt seen in years which was nice. strange living here for the first time and having a housewarming party where i know 80% of hte people that turn up. was great for a catch up! ours didnt get quite that crazy... however we do now have blue trees out the front of our house- one of the people took the liberty of painting them for us, why you might ask?? we have no idea! so we now have 3 trees out the front of ours (and our neighbours) house with blue trunks and a blue telegraph pole.

yay for btb weave biggrin i went for a spin yesterday afternoon, and i did lots of btb weave without hitting myself in the head bounce yay for no head hits!
hows the over the head butterfly going??

Congrats for no head hits! Over the head butterfly's going better, though I haven't been putting too much practice into it. Trying to figure out isolations (needed a break from all the reverse 5 beat cheek/face/head/nose/chin hits) at the moment, and am not sure if I'm making any progress.. smile

yeah... when he told me he was painting the trees out the front i thought it was his way of telling me he was pissing on them... so i was like, "um, sure, if thats what you really want to do, go ahead" then i get up the next day and there is blue trees... gotta love the drunk!

im not even attempting to attempt isolations... i think i need to see more people do them before i try, will get there eventually!

oh, i just remembered i painted the trunk of a tree at my work (blue, funnily enough) and everyone thought i'd killed it, cos the leaves were going brown and such. i was really scared, because it was a beautiful tree. turned out it was just the effects of autumn. the trunk's still blue.

will see what i can do on the photo front... *laffs* yeah, we were HOPING that it would just be acrylic paint so it come off with water, but no... this guy does it with style- and house paint :/
it would be ok if they were the trees in front of OUR house, but instead he had to do the ones in front of our old greek neighbours house, whom i doubt appreciate the finess (sp?) of his art.
