Posted: So I've heard that the term Kiwi is an offensive slur, I've also heard that it is a title that is looked at with pride by NZers. I dont get it, has it taken on the conotations of Nigger, they can call themselves that but no one else can. Please explain. Also if anyone happens to know the orgin of the term please post. thanks.

Posted: Yeah, it does give me a laugh.. I found signs to a 'historic concrete horse trough' in NZ last time I was there.. Coming from England, I find it pretty weird having the words 'historic' and 'concrete' in the same phrase..
I mean.. at my primary school in England, while digging foundations for an extrension, they accidently discovered a secret tunnel -dating back to the civil war- from the local (12th century) church to a fortified farmhouse up the road.. it came out under a fake gravestone...
When you're brought up round history like that, being taken to a 'historic' 50 year old site is.. somewhat underwhelming.
