Ive been spinning for over a year and have came back to look at the 'tuck turn' on this site. I dont really see how it works (or i may be doing it but dont know) I can do other moves like turns, flowers, crosses, isolations, wraps, stalls, btb weave and other btb moves but this i dont think ive used before.

Am i right in thinking you spin forwards say, then move the right hand under the left, spin both in equal time on the left side and as they are spinning back around, turn to your right?

This looks rubbish anyway confused

no, its just a turn from forwards to back where the poi swing behind the body instead of infront.

think wall plane reels.

It doesn't really tuck under anything, it's not a very descriptive name.

If you're doing turns with circles behind you, then you're already doing them - a low turn always stays in front of you.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

i still get very confused about which turn is which, so i just do them really fast so i don't have to think about them for very long.

confused

I'm very confused now.

I always thought that a tuck turn was what was shown in the low turn video and that a low turn was just spinning forwards, turning 180 degrees and ending up spinning backwards.

I'll have to look at the tuck turn video when I get home - I don't seem to be able to watch it on this pc.

Edit - just managed to watch it. Your right arm tucks under your left armpit.

It's parallel time and the best way to describe it at the moment is that it's like a hip reel, but both arms are on the same side of your body.

Probably not very helpful, but I'll see what I can do later.

It's an odd move...
Technically, it's just a carry turn preceded by a not-really-waist-wrap thing - (You know the kind - by the people who call a proper waist-wrap a btb waist wrap)

Or, slightly more un-technically - it's just a low carry turn but you turn your body first meaning you lead with the right hand, not the left... wink
