Hi there I am new to Edmonton and am looking for someone who is willing to teach poi. I'm a beginner and know the basics but would love to learn so much more.

Hi & welcome,

there are quite a few tutorials kicking about in the forums, and the HoP free lessons pages, most things can be learnt by watching the move you want to learn repeatedly in any video you find, and trying it out yourself, and don't give up! many moves take people weeks or more to get let alone master smile (and sometimes the same move can take a different person just a few hours).

Getting a grip with the 3 beat weave, butterfly, and probably reels (see the hop lessons) if you havn't already is probably the best place to start if you havn't already, then you'll have a better basis for comprehending the video's.

pay attention to each arm at a time, which direction is it spinning, in which plane, and which way round is the poi spinning, same as the arm, or the other way.

Otherwise try the searching meet others and events boards for anytihng in your area smile
