I've completely gotten obsessed with the new show Heroes, about ordinary people (like junkies and webcam strippers ubblol) who develop superpowers. It's kind of a cross between X-Men and Lost. There've only been three episodes but I'm hooked, hooked, hooked. Anyone else seen it and want to geek out? Has it even aired outside the States yet?

"but he does it in such a lovely way"

Yeah, it will be sad to see that part of him change as he becomes the badass it appears he will.

Still, it could be seasons from now before that happens. And everybody's gotta grow up sometime.

On the other hand, if our heroes are successful in preventing the catastrophe, it's likely that the future that particular Hiro came from won't come to pass...

But onto episode 7 -- that Mr. Linderman does appear to have some connection to everyone, doesn't he? Well a good percentage of them anyway. And we haven't even seen him yet. Definitely adds up to the Big Bad in my book.

And Micah + phone = SWEET!

Not to mention King Kaboom there. Poor nurse. I loved the whole..."What are you ganna do? Shoot me? What if I explode?" So much akin to the painting hmmmmmmm?

Ahhhhhh the twists, the turns, the "heros" coming out of the wood work. Who's good? Who's Bad? Who the hell is Jessica? wink

I love it.

The best part of last nights episode? That I got to see it and PWB didn't! biggrin

Loved that Micah has an affinity for mechanical/electrical devices.

All I can say is that thank goodness it is getting some decent ratings. Hopefully this won't culminate in a 'Now and Again'/'Firefly' type canning.

I LOVE THIS SHOW!

I really really liked Charlie (? the waitress). I hope Hiro is successful with this detour, though I'm not sure what to make of his expression in the picture at the end...

And I cannot for the life of me figure out if Mr. Bennett & Eden are "good" guys or "bad" guys, though Eden did seem to have an ethical problem with asking Isaac to shoot up so he could finish the painting so that indicates some level of "good"-ness. Wonder what that painting will reveal.

And Homecoming is nigh upon us!! I need some answers/resolution to SOMETHING soon or I'm going to burst.

Luckily I saw it.

I love the waitress. At the end of the episode we got into a chat about which power would we choose if we could, and hers was my choice.

Though Eden and the power of persuasion, very close second.

Many of them would corrupt me, and I know it so I chose the least dangerous one in my hands.

The Hiro thing. He said he was going to go back to "yesterday" and make her not come into work. She said in the beginning that she celebrated her birthday a week ago.

Hiro was in the picture for her birthday. That means he screwed up with his intentions. Woah...do you think Hiro is the one who gave her the Japanese dictionary???????

And I agree. I'm dieing to see what happens next week! smile

The look on his face was awkward and somewhat sad I thought.

I was left pondering just how easy it would be to get lost in constant teleporting and time warping trying to 'fix' things. To me it almost presents a real journey that Hiro must undergo on his own. We don't know how long he'll take, maybe this is where he learns about causing rifts (as mentioned to young Petrelli on the train), maybe he'll be speaking better english when he comes back too.

I dunno, was really moved by the conundrum he finds himself in with that power, let alone any of the others - I like you Pele would probably be somewhat corrupted after a while.

On a bit of a gruesome note, how do you think Silar gets their heads off? It almost seems like he uses his telekinesis to just 'twist' them open like a beer. iiiiew :-\

Love my Battlestar, love my Lost but this show really is a breath of fresh air and I'm really hanging on every episode.

redface yeah I felt a little self-conscious about that. But talking about the episode without revealing anything that happened is a superpower I don't have! Or you can just call me Spoiler Man!

I agree though, that the waitress' power is the most appealing to me. If I had any kind of offensive ability I shudder to think how many annoying people on the bus I would've seriously harmed by now. ubblol

I think that's a good bet! I hope so anyway, would be kinda' cool, but then that presents us with a predestination paradox, doesn't it? Time travel is so confusing.

Good insight there. It most certainly is his journey -- towards comprehending the nature of spacetime and the limits of what he can do.

I think the can-opener the waitress was using just before it happened was a pretty good analogy. eek

As an after thought (and back on topic) I have a horrible feeling Hiro's friend may get lost. If hiro drastically alters anything isn't it fair to say that he could create a tangent timeline?

Maybe this is where he learns about how 'rifts' happen, maybe he'll lose his friend along the way.

I just have a bad feeling his buddy is the 'guy in the red shirt'. wink biggrin biggrin

I thought the same thing too Berzerker and last night kind of firmed it up for me.

I felt so bad last night. I just kept saying things like "Poor Ando." (as well as, "His loyalty is admirable, his cowardice is not") and "Poor Peter."

I LOVED Jody being knocked out, and called the "identity confusion" before it happened, as well as how Peter survived. Though seeing it happen, much cooler than in my head.

Also surprised by the "meeting in the woods". Liked that muchly.

And the suspense just builds! They had built this up as "The episode you've been waiting for." and then...aahhhh...it made things worse not better...aahhhhhh....

I love this show.

"Poor Peter" indeed! What a terrible way to leave him, I hate that. I also loved the meeting in the woods.

Do you think it's significant that in Isaac's paintings there's one of Hiro and Ando at the Homecoming and yet they weren't there? The future has changed already...

So now the cheerleader is saved...what about the world? I love how that's still unresolved, and yet can't stand it at the same time!

I was hoping for more of a throw-down with Sylar though, it seemed over so quickly. And I wonder how long they'll manage to hold him...

yep, this show rocks.

I too was also hoping for more biffo with Sylar. I think as the show is based more on the journey of the characters and they have been sparing in showing the powers being used, they will build up to hopefully a big kick arse battle at the end of the season.

"Do you think it's significant that in Isaac's paintings there's one of Hiro and Ando at the Homecoming and yet they weren't there?"

I'll have to go back and check that, I thought it was a picture of them at the 'Burnt Toast' cafe but you may be right there. Hiro has the benefit of being able to really influence that although I was thinking all the paintings were satisfied as the events unfolded. *shrugs*

I think my theory on Ando being lost was shot with this episode though as Peter interacted with him on this timeline. Time travel is a tricky noodle to grasp but I love how it's being handled here.

I'm assuming we now have a break in this show over the winter holidays? Damn you US Networks. SO unecessary to do this to fans :-\

There's a new episode tonight, and I read on one of the fan boards somewhere that there will be a new episode next week and that will be the last before the break. Not sure about that, but there's a new one tonight for sure. smile

Normally they do 12 before a break. Now, I know we aren't at 10 yet!

I don't tend to read the fan boards. Sometimes the people can be so stupid on them. On the Marvel bb they are trying to plug them all into the Marvel role playing game, debating on their powers. I wonder if they even enjoy the show!

Tonite on Sci-fi they show last weeks again at 7 and then the new one is at 9. It'll be good to have the recap. I love how many twists are on this.

Here's one I've been thinking. Peter's brother will lose the election due to "brotherly issues" and become a bad guy, since he's quite teetering now. You think?

And as far as Hiro and Ando, they better damn well say something cause it's killing my poor nails!

This is the only show I watch religiously and it's very like a drug! lol

As an aside, I decided to track down the online comics etc. and found some good interviews with the creator(s).

Apparently Tim Kring has no real working knowledge of comics at all. He just comes up with ideas on powers and plots etc. and relies on the more comic savvy guys he has around him to kind of let him know if he's hitting plagiarism too much. I guess not that it's technically plagiarism if he hasn't read it or knowingly copied (but that's a whole other tin of tuna).

My Motherboard died at home this week so I'm out of commission for DLing this weeks so will have to avoid this spoiler ridden conversation for a week or 2. Have fun. ;-)

eek I have a reputation now do I? I guess I earned that one. redface tee hee.

Episode 10 was awesome though! I particularly appreciated Nathan's backstory, I thought it explained a lot about his character and motivations. And Hiro's whole experience was pretty poignant and I like how he learned about the limits of his power. AND we got Sylar's origin story though I'm still unclear how exactly he works. I mean, we've already seen that the brains of his victims are removed, but then what happens to them?

Good stuff, though, good stuff.

Joe, I did as well, but there was nothing like seeing it. It gets better!

Khan, right now it seems like he's absorbing them. Sylar was a bit mental long before he became Sylar it seems.

I felt so bad for Hiro. Poor man!!!!! But you have to learn before you can play the game, right?

And yes, it did explain alot about Nathan, and well, all of them. I really enjoyed seeing the backstories alot...all the way around.

Here are the two things we are pondering over here....

1. How did the Dr. actually figure it back to all of the people on his map? Out of the millions and millions...how'd he figure it out?

2. Jessica/Nicole...is it a simple case of mpd, in which case there is no "super" involved? Is it a super attached to mpd, where only one personality knows how to tap into it?
Or is it that when Jessica died her spirit jumped into her sister (which is not uncommon in comic books)?

We had some great debates and discussions over these last night after the show aired.

Wanna know what is the saddest part of all this?
I think I'm the only girl in here talking about this. Ugh...my geek is showing! lol wink

sylar's such a mentalist..

scary man.

his understanding of how things work doesn't equate to him being able to the incorporate that into himself however. Not yet anyway, haven't seen the back of his skull, that would involve some cunning use of mirrors!

Yup, nobody's denying you your geekiness Pele! wink

Unfortunately I haven't had the time to contribute to this thread, but I've been watching the programme religiously.

I'm glad we've finally found out the backstory on Sylar. I can't wait to find out more about him, and I hope we get to see how his powers progressed to what they are now.
Hiro- still definitely my favourite character, and I think he's got a lot to cope with. In my opinion it seems to be the most dificult power to learn how to control.

So it's the last episode of the year on Monday. Does anyone know when it starts again after the holidays?

Lets steal a spaceship and head for the sun, and shoot the stars with a lemonade ray gun.
