INTERNET COL 2006

Rules:

No attempt at a costume or a nice location. Preferably not on fire and with an emphasis on tricks and new ideas rather than trying to look cool or win.

There as usual, will be a token video of the following skills (not nessessarily all of them), CJ, Hoop, Rope Dart, Fingers, Fire-Hands, Fans, nunchucks, troup performances, glowsticks, juggling.

Remaining true to COL there will be a heavy bias on poi.

All videos should have been made in (or made availible) in 2006. And be made by somebody on or at least connected to an online community. (otherwise how on earth will I find them?) If the person in question has been in a previous (REAL) COL and has subsequently made a video that totally eclipses their COL entry, that video shall receive preferential entry into INTERNET COL 06.

As per usual if I or you, break any of this rules, don't tell me, cos I don't care. (Unless a link is broken, in which case, tell me.)

Chapter skipping hasn't been implemented, sorry. wink

Well duh! It's harder to learn from a fire performance and learning is what internet COL is all about.

Plus: Badly lit fire performances are what real COL gets plastered with, so internet COL has to be the opposite.

Well duh, I must have missed where you made it so obvious that this was to be a learning, not entertainment series.

I'm glad to read it's about the lighting, and it's not some fire spinners vs sock jugglers cowspoo.

I thought I had a witty remark in response to this thread but I was wrong and have since deleted said remark.

Anyway this is a great idea. I now have alot of videos to watch. I think this could be a big help to alot of people.

Oh and I am a poi dancing fire spinning sock juggler. Does this disqualify me at all? ubbloco

Maybe you need some links to Nick doing flowers, or Mo-Seph doing funky stuff, or Andy or Drew or Antti and Tommi, or Laura, or Sy from Bristol (uber fast, technical, clean and interesting to watch...)?

Or Ronan and Eimhin...

mcp i agree its easier to learn without fire but on the other hand dont you need the fire to see how good the tricks look when lit?,i do feel that many peole dont burn enough and this is shown up in the tricks they choose to perform.....i know somepeople are in this purely for the twirling but for me its all about the fire.....
wicked thread by the way

That's true. I would say anti-spin flowers and weaves look nicest on fire. But I also enjoy incredibly technical things that I find hard to distinguish when on fire. (Since it's harder to see arms and body movement.)

I enjoy both making pretty fire patterns and getting my arms twisted up with each other.

but Internet COL is about videos which are easy to learn from and have something new to learn on them... fire or not. (Preferably not. wink )

Didn't see this post before, sorry. I can't watch this video yet since I'm at work, but if you want to pick out one of your own videos loon, that is clear and has interesting things on it, and isn't a performance, I will add it too the list. I wanted to before but since you have so many videos, I couldn't go through them all to pick one out...

apart from that, baton twirlers are the lose. wink

I wish I could, take the COL dvd for example, there are alot of people on that that thought they were good enough, compared some of the entries though, they pale in comparison. My own opinion, but it is me deciding who I think is good enough...

I was quoting the list of spinners you posted, using that standard as an example.

Your right of course, I should be able to decide for myself how good I am.
