Aah. I see. If I'm under suspicion because I'm quite new here (and I don't do poi) then feel free to interrogate me. Or you could go to rec.juggling and ask for my credentials, I met a lot of well-known faces in the British juggling scene when I went to a convention in Suffolk this year.

To all those not aware, a little while ago some very nice people from another forum decided it'd be a great lark to come on HOP, pretend to be spinners, and cause mild discomfort. Fortunately they were found out, and I believe a nice chat was had by all, over on their boards.
I presume idancelikeatwatme thinks this is happening again? I was still in lurk mode at the time, so wasn't really involved, and only knew about it because I think Pele posted something in a sticky...?

Written by: FiretrampMaybe it's just a case of the poi scene expanding. Juggling is definitely getting bigger, it makes sense that poi will also become more popular because there are folk who do both, and many who practice one discipline will tend to hang out with people who do the other.

Rather than lumping all newbies together as a group (since several newbies who were part of the last invasion either (1) had nothing to do with it or (2) realized how cool we are and stuck around), let's just go person-by-person.
If you're a twat, then you get banned. Plain and simple. If you're an army of twats, then the lot of you get banned. Plain and simple. Or we'll call you out and thus completely emasculate your entire invasion.
Now everyone just calm the hell down and go back to being goofy.

Im having far to much fun in Australia right now, which is a place they will never be lucky enough to go to. That makes me smile.
At the end of the day, it just shows how immature, pathetic and utterly stupid these people are.
Posts can be deleted and everything returned to normal anyway - such is the benefit of a virtual setup as this.
HOP records EVERY IP address (even through so called "anonomisers" or proxy servers) so if if damages profits from the shop, the money will be retrieved from those that caused it under New Zealand law. Which is one of the countries the UK fully supports. (along with Aus, US, Canada and a few more)
Note that as the shop is in Nz, as are the servers, that they break not only UK laws, but NZ ones too - the penalties for which are much more severe.
So go ahead with your 'invasion' if you wish to, we will only laugh at you.
And note thats laugh at you, not with you.
It might be a bit easier for you this time as Im sitting this one out.

I'm a newbie lol I've known about the site but have only just reciently joined as I didn't want to be seen as copying my friend (pigeon).
Just so you know I have no intention of 'invading' or ruining anything for anyone. I just want to become good enough at poi to be able to trustmyself with fire and start a Society at my uni. Stupid uni only has one good society *grrrr*

could be something to do with the fact that there have been a huge influx of fire arts and circus skills on TV.
Sky one = Circé de Celebrité (12 celebrites do circus skills live every week)
Channel 5 = the all star talent show celebrities doing talents including fire stuff (very poorly)
And a new show due to start january
Charlotte church has Wales versus the rest of the world where 2 circus style acts compete to see who is best
I think it might just be that what we have been doing for a several years is going through a popular phase. my website only has 50 members but it had 30 people on line the other day all of them guests.
A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.
