Hey people!
Ever had your friends ask you: 'what is this 'punting'
thing you keep talking about?' or 'what do you do with
those balls of yours?' or 'why do you keep on beating
yourself with that big stick/balls in socks?' etc.?
Well, we have the answer to all your problems!
(Disclaimer: so long as they're related to the
questions above)
On Saturday August 19th, we have been planning a
little gathering: the idea is that we will meet up in
the afternoon on Saturday, go punting, then head out
to Grantchester for a night of BBQing spinning and
juggling (weather permitting). So come along! It's
very informal, just an opportunity to come along
spin/juggle/get drunk/whatever and hang out with some
cool people: Like YOU! yes, you!
punting in the daytime will probably cost a few quid
(about £2.50/hour with 6 people) provided we have
punts filled with 6 people to share the cost.

NB: If you get a punt, ask for a metal pole, they're
much easier to use than the wooden ones!

I'm not sure what time we're planning on starting, but there is the pink picnic at Cherry Hintom Hall and a stop the war coalition demo at 12.30 in the Market square.
I would like to go to the demo...at least for a bit...

so far 2pm is what I've put it down for... if we need more time though we can always arse about for an hour/make it 3pm?
I've been trying not to make this clash with anything, but this weekend is really the last one I can do for a while, and also there's even more parties happening in the evening, Col from camcircus has got a party on that night..

really sorry guys but i cant get time off work... am well gutted cause it would have been nice to meet u all. hopefully next time i will have a bit longer to plan and will be able to make it. again sorry. have fun

the weather's looks sh!t. I don't mean to be a party pooper, but sitting on a punt in the rain isnt my idea of fun.have we got a plan B?

I know, I've just looked at the forecast
either we can go back to mine and do punting workshops with a broom and stuff 
or I was thinking about getting some clear plastic to drape over the top of the punts. With a couple of fold- out chairs I think it could make a good protective cover, although whoever is using the pole will still get wet. If it's still pouring in the evening, practically everybody seems to be having a house party, so it shouldn't be difficult to find somewhere to go. Or we can always party at mine: I think we'll be playing it by ear a bit...

just met up with simon in town: he has a gazebo too, so what we might do is join them up with a tarp and have a BBQ in Lammas land also I'm looking for people with skateboards to use so we can have 'puntboard' races when it's dry.
a few ideas so far:
normal races
freestyle (bonus points for comedy effect)
wiggling race (speed + most outrageous wiggles = winner)
paffing: put one staff move in between each push with the pole (bonus points for style)
limbo (may be vetoed if too dangerous) you can only overtake if you limbo under the waist height of the person in front of you
At the moment the weather is going:
rain/ bright sunshine/ cloud/ rain/ bright sunshine/ cloud
whatever you bring, make sure you have something waterproof!!
