Lately I spent a lot of time in practiceing with 3 poi;
after a lot of try I found that the easyest(for me) pattern to start with 3 poi is tossing them :P .
Now I have a record of about 100 catches and an average about 40 that will be a good start for trying tricks.
But first... I know that there are a lot of way for throwing a poi and for 3 poi juggling I use socks poi with an handle 1/3 weghted than the head.
The start is with one poi for each hand and one catched on the internal elbow, in such way is really simple to have the third poi in the hand after the first throw only lowing the arm.
The throw method is club-like, one turn and the consequent catch must be done with the hand that exactly catch the handle and not the poi body, after it for stopping the turning movement of the poi I get my arm low, in such way the effect is nearly like a stall (but really less "well-done") and you can throw again your poi from the starting position without losing time in spins.
This is my way for the 3 poi cascade! Yours???
Ok these are my tips, now the triks

you could try:
wallplane spins, same direction as a half shower
this trick should mean you don't have to stall on each catch and you can keep the poi spinning all the time
with just two poi, i can do a full shower like this (with one spin while in the hand) so you should be able to fit three into a half shower.
would you mind giving me some more information about the poi setup you are using please?
the length and the weights of the balls in each end (or just the proportionate weight of the balls to each other) would be really handy to know.
i'd like to have a go at this but will need to make some new poi for it so might as well go with a setup that has been tried and tested

For contact poi I use very short poi then 50 cm or shorter are better for me...
The tricky thing is that these are my normal use poi, I have take inspiration from ruslan Flomenco but I wont to integrate the poi juggling with the normla spinning and with a lot of poi manipulation that I'm exploring in these months.
in your half shower I think I have to try to throw the "reverse" with doubles...

well, since i can't do half showers with poi yet it would have to be full shower i was talking about
i reckon 2 poi half shower (with the over the top throw as a double) would be great practice for half shower with 3.
i have to get me some of these now - a half shower with the over the top throw as a full circle and the normal throw as a half would be badass

you should also be able to do a cascade in the wheel plane with no stalling... but i think this is hard as you are hardly holding onto the poi at all, so you have to get really good at correcting your throws and being super accurate.
also the same sort of thing should be possible in the wall plane..

I definitely find the shower pattern easier, cos the poi are all spinning in the same direction and tend not to tangle up in the air.
It's funny cos i've just been learning 3 club shower in the wall plane throwing doubles each throw (oh yeah, i've been juggling more than anything else for the last 6 months)
Anyways, acciaio you need to get my dvd and sort your wibbling out, then you can teach me lots of great stuff when i meet you.

With such control of the wibble a lot of patterns can be done with 3 poi!!! The time that the poi is in your hand is shorter than any other kind of throw and is also more spectacular!!!
I think can be something like X-time with balls...

I update easy tricks doable(closed by me now) with 423(4 in singles or doubles) and 522(5 in doubles naturally) now I'm trying to "spin" one turn when I need to do a 2 ...can be pretty... and working on 441 that I've only collected(not back in the cascade).
