So I just turned 29. Not a bad age, actually. I have some direction in life, I'm feeling fine, no more teenage ackwardness...

...until I woke this morning to find my face COVERED in ACNE. Zits EVERYWHERE. I haven't had this many since my voice broke!

I think it was that birthday cake with the buttercreme frosting that also made me sick to my stomach.

Yick. Just when you think you're through the worst of it...

I'm now 25 and still have blackheads and spots. If only we could all afford creme de la mer- we'd be gorgeous!

Seriously though, spots are only a problem if you let them be one. Yeah, they're annoying and sometimes painful, but most people hardly notice. And you're still beautiful underneath them anyway hug

Yup. 25 also- still have patches of bad skin. I cover blemishes up with concealer, but I still feel like people are staring at the bad bits when I talk to them.

That's just my face though....I seem to get corkers in really odd places. I had a good one on my shin yesterday, and one on my belly last week.

Oh, I find drinking LOADS of water keeps my skin a bit clearer.

I hit puberty stupidly early, and thankfully got the worst of my spots over and done with whilst i was 9/10..

My lad is really self concious about his acne, but I don't even notice it, and like Jo said you're still beautiful underneath them.

I still get the odd one or two on my face, but now my shoulders seem to have taken the brunt of it shrug

Lots of water, and anti-spot creams/facewipes, and remember make-up only makes it worse!

The "beautiful underneath" thing is great, but very few people will actually say that. In fact no one ever said that to me.

After thinking about this for a bit I can honestly say I think my bad skin has contributed to my severe lack of confidence in a big way....

.....this is despite realising that in fact I don't know anyone that doesn't get breakouts from time to time (all ages of people up to forty-something).

sometimes not, i have really sensitive skin and most of all that stuff made my skin worse, dry and spotty simultaneously resulting in pain... which seems kind of impossible but did indeed happen, and it all got better as soon as i stopped washing...! biggrin

acne in older people can also be stress related...

I'll tell you what worked for me, HAVING KIDS! LOL nah not really.

Get plenty of fresh air and zinc in your diet to combat pimpliness. also, do not fall asleep with the skin of your face in contact with your arm or hand (or any other skin ubbangel

The summer always makes my skin greasy. I rarely wash my face, I use exfoliating cleansing clothes every morning, and a sensitive baby wipe to remove make-up at night. Don't remove it and you'll get spots!

Stress also brings mine out, and sometimes strawberries. I used to think it was an allergic reaction, but strawberries detoxify you, hence they bring you out in spots. And I did eat three punnets of them biggrin

Always use "so's your face" and "only on Tuesdays" in as many conversations possible

I've stopped eating so much dairy. Not easy when I just love pizza, cheese and those huge pots of yoghurt.

Whiteheads are just another way for the body to get rid of toxins, so either not eating them, or getting rid of them another way will help. Drinking more is probably the easiest way, (and drinking something like green tea helps even more).

Blackheads form because the oils in the skin are too thick to get out of the pores, or the pores are blocked from outside. To produce the right kinds of oils you need to eat a more natural diet, that includes more seeds and fish.

Also different amounts / kinds of skin oils are produced by people who's ancestors evolved in different climates. For example my red haired ancestors (my dad has red hair, and so does a lot of his side of the family) developed skin that needed to protect them against a cold, wet, windy climate, so it produces enough oil to cope with constant soaking. Hot dry weather doesn't agree with me and I end up with dry skin and blackheads (other problems with having red heads for ancestors are getting sunburned easily, attracting mosquitos from miles around in places they live, and having a beard that grows really fast).

redface aww girlies! I wasn't fishing for compliments, honest!

I was lucky that Play happened in one of about 3 weeks this year when my skin has been ok.

Right now it is terrible- but it's my own fault for changing moisturiser, my face does not appreciate the new one I chose...now it's all bumpy with red patches frown.

I used to have very blotchy red skin a few years ago. I found that Moisturiser really helps to get rid of the redness of spots, its not going to hide them or anything but you wont have red skin around them which is bad enough.

i have awful skin and having a birth mark that shows up blotchy doesnt help

my skin is so sensitive i cant even use the mildest of soaps on my face or body as it drys out

all cleansing lotions burned my skin and made my birthmark stand right out and glow a bit like rudolfs nose

ive had treatment on my face loads of times to try help take the birthmark away but its something to do with too many bloody vessels in one side if my face or something makes it show up really red. well thats what they said years ago at the doctors.

anyway i couldnt find anything that would help my skin till recently i found nivea visage young skin

they do cleansing scrub, face wash, toner and moisturizer and an intence scrub to use once a week

it doesnt bring my face out or burn my skin, it has cleared up my spots apart from right now as womens time of month and all that brings some out, but i found its really really good and extremely sensitive

i would like to know if there is anything i can do to calm my birthmark down now though as times have changed and new treatments and hospitals but im sure id have to pay for cosmetic surgery or something
