I prefer glostix, glopoi, and now fire since I had my first burn and wasn't so scared of it(specially after finding out that hitting myself and doing wraps that it didn't burn or hurt like I thought it would.

I love my aerotechs to bits but the sound and sight of fire is one that can never be matched.

For practice I prefer my sock poi as opposed to commetts because they don't get tangled so much. But to play I prefer fire chains to anything else. Nothing beats the woosh woosh noise of fire or looks as fabulous.

Are we nearly there yet?

I like using my chains and whicks unlit for practice, which can't be good for them but oh well Lately I've been playing around with wraps using old dead glowsticks on string.

I'm hooked on my electroglows.. I've stuck tennis balls on the end of them to make them heavier - I used to burn every night after work.. but I've drifted out of fire.. not done it for ages (PiP will be a virgin burn this year!)

Electroglows and UV flags for me now.. they're so purdy..

When I tried Dom's Aerotechs (are those clubs or poi? Or are they the same thing...) I loved them. Fire's loud, and ooo-alitious. My electroglows run out of batteries fast, and beaming poi are hard and dangerous (I LOVE THEM!!!)

Glow is my favorite though.

Definitely my tennis ball poi on dog chains... Lightweight, very visible and one can use them in places where pyrotechnics are forbidden, like at my local park where tons of ppl congregate.

Fire I need a certain mood anymore to go with... pretty much just for shows where I have some loud music and stuff. More and more, I'm enjoying the teaching side of poi rather than the performance aspect, so practice poi are more geared towards my activities

My first poi were kite tail. Now I almost always use my fire (cable) poi even though I've only lit them a few times. They are so beautiful but for some reason the noise gets to me. I've had juggling torches since the late 80's and love fire but there is something about poi (maybe the fear of getting tangled in it) that scares me.

Fire at the mo defo, the sound and the sort of insulated bubble of existence while your using them just draws me right in. Altho' I've been salivating over the aerotech site for at least two weeks....good job I've just lost my credit card
I'm just too scared of my beamers to use them in anger, as I keep hitting myself on my head with them
Actually, I've been using some of those shorter mikido kiddies poi recently and can do loads more with them, under the legs etc...good for putting in your pocket too

I'm completely in love with Glass's sophisticated sock poi because they flow better than anything else and when I spin I don't worry less aboutu what it looks like than how I feel. Flags, tails, fire & glow all come a close joint second

I current like playing with sock poi, mainly cos i can take em anywhere and work don't mind too much.

I love fire but I need to be in the right frame of mind fr it(something I haven't had much of lately)

I also have a set of foam poi sent to me from NZ, they are great from the pain point of view( you really have to be going some for it to hurt) but they are way light so sometimes they are hard to control.
