hey guys and gals, I'm Tom and currently live in Japan where I teach English. strict laws prevent me from jumping to fire pois (read miserable Neighbours), but also I think that my lack of experience is a bigger thing.
I had a go with my friends poi's this weekend at a festival we had. it was really fun, we attached glow sticks to them and I was able to pull of a couple of moves by the end of the weekend. not perfect but getting better!
so yeah, just ordered a set of practice poi's from HOP which have just shipped. am looking forward to getting better. I'm not one to stick to things normally but I can see this will be such a cool thing to do, that I'm determined to get good.

I can get to Osaka easily and we're going to Kyoto and Tokyo eventually, but I'm pretty much stuck here in Kobe.

ah dang, it's an overnight ferry ride to Osaka. I was in Kobe last year for a conference. it was great fun. loads of cool places to eat and chill out.
if you ever have the desire to visit Kyushu and Oita let me know.

Just a month. I leave on July 3rd. I would love to visith Kyushu and Oita, but I don't know if I have the time. They gave us a pretty hectic schedule.
If I find a free weekend, I'll definitely let you know.
