Be Fatboy Slims Next Music Video!

Fatboy Slims videos always break new ground -(think of the dance troupe in Praise You or Christopher Walkens extraordinary dancing in Weapon Of Choice). The video for his new single That Old Pair Of Jeans is another tale of the unexpected. Renowned comedian and entertainer Chris Bliss interprets the music of Fatboy Slim through the medium of juggling-brilliant!

Can you juggle to music like Chris Bliss? If Fatboy Slim thinks so too then he'll pick your juggler video to be the winning video that will feature on the enhanced version of the second single to be released from the Greatest Hits album this Summer.

Heres what you do:

1) Make your own version of Fatboy Slims juggler video

2) Upload your video in the MySpace Videos section

3) Copy the embed code from the right hand side of the Video display page

4) Paste the video embed code in a comment to Fat Boy Slim on myspace by 8/06/06

Heres what Fatboy Slim does:

1) Watches all the videos

2) Picks his favourite one to go on the single

3) Announces the winner on myspace

oh no....

Mind you, if this gets jugglers trying to turn in to entertainers then it will be a very good thing.

I'm sure Garfield wouldn't have a chance of being in anything like this: he is at best dull to watch for a non-juggler like me.

I'd better not say anything more though...

although seeing as bliss is such a successful stand-up comedian, i don't think he's that funny either shrug

no nevermind, we've been here before...

I've seen a few garfield videos, but maybe there is a hidden collection of interesting videos that no one likes to share. 2bags told me he is a very good clown, but I've not seen any of them. I would like to see Garfields attempt (if he joins in).

I didn't actually like Bliss' Fatboy video much. What I liked about the 'other' one was the way it went with the music. This one seemed like more or less the same thing without the timing.

Anyway, I'm out of here before I loose another few hours on a silly argument wink

hug

I will ask though: Why was Bliss picked for the fatbuy video, and not any of the 'better' jugglers...?

maybe because, fatboy slim has seen very few professional juggling performances and bliss was the only one he could remembver the name of.

more plausible, is that he picked bliss because bliss' video has been very doing the rounds on the net and mr cook knew that not only would bliss be recognised by a large number of people, but also that fatboy's video would receive extra coverage due to discussions like this.

fatboy slim's use of myspace suggests he is in touch with a few net trends and the myspace video challenge certainly supports that second theory...

as for why you haven't seen garfield perform much, its because its pretty rare to get even a section of a professional performance uploaded to the net for everyone to download for free, let alone a whole routine.

i've only ever seen one bliss performance and most of a (pretty old) garfield performance.

i've seen a lot of garfield's pure juggling skills in internet practice videos and from seeing him compete in the wjf.

there are a few of garfield's earlier performances on ija competition videos if you know anyone that might have them.

to see his current show, like just about every other pro juggling act, you'd have to go see him live.

the bjc next year is the most liekly chance we'll get to see garfield in the uk any time soon...

don't want to start another random discussion on entertainment but i just thought that the comment 'he is dull at best' was just slightly unqualified hug

it is relevant, but its not a qualifier for your blanket statement rating his apparently low skills as an entertainer.

your statement implies that you have seen all of garfield's material, decided which is the best of it and reated that as 'dull for a non-juggler'.

the qualifier would have to be something like "though i have seen none of his actual stage performances..."

So...is anyone here going to take part? Do you think Mr Slim thinks of the word juggling in the same was as some do, including poi, staff, CJ etc as well? It would be nice to submit a poi video, just so he can see what it's like, and if he likes the way it looks...

You never know, we might get a poi video for his next single...

As far as bliss being in the video, and why Slim is even having the competition in the first place, I'm sure it has entirely to do with internet debates on it. I mean, the bliss vid has been making the rounds heavy recently, and Slim picks it up. Due to the bliss vid making the rounds, there's been alot of discussion on his spasmotic performance and how, on a performance for entertainment level, his display is lacking, particularly in the eyes of those who know the skill somewhat intimately. Thus, we have the competition.

I think it's pretty savvy of Slim, and a good opportunity for jugglers.

Peace,

why Slim is even having the competition in the first place,

Large amounts of free publicity and the potential for a stonking music video for very little effort smile

Indeed he is very savvy.

edit. I've just watched the fat boy slim video.

It's not quite the same as the other one is it? Although most of it's similar enough that I had to watch both again to check. I was hoping for a completely different routine but was obviously disappointed.

It looks so much worse in that video - at least in t'other one it was shown as one take and there were a few bits that at least were in time to the music.

In this it doesn't look so much like a cohesive routine, more like a collection of clips of random juggling that have been edited together, and with the amount he moves about (especially his left leg, I think he must have a nervous twitch or something), I think it just looks really messy.

Does anyone know where I can find a video of Chris Bliss that doesn't involve that routine (or a very similar one)? I'm very curious to see what he can do when he's not acting up for the crowd.

aye, there's the rub.

as far as i can ascertain, bliss doesn't do much juggling at all apart from the routine we all know and love.

which might explain why, when he is asked to come up with a new routine, he comes up with something very similar to his regular routine, yet nowhere near as polished.

apparently bliss was alluded to on desperate housewives the other day.

now *thats* success! biggrin

i whole heartedly agree, i have the box set of Solstorm by Cirque Du Soliel and every juggler in it is both more talented and a better entertainer than Chris Bliss.

ok, as i said there is a box set of 13 one hour episodes of Cirque Du Soleil productions. its called SolStorm and was specifically made for TV. i'm only half way through the series so far and here are the three jugglers that have performed and the title of the episode.

*giggles* ok, the first guy i was thinking of is Victor Kee, but you know him, he also has a appearnace in "howling winds"

Steven Andrew Ratgatz, from the episode "Once Upon a Wind" is a suitcase juggler, i'd never seen it before this.

Vladik Miagkostoupov was 19 at the time of filming his routine (which includes a 7 ball cascade) in the episode "winds of freedom".

i'll post more when i watch more wink
