My best frinds husband looks like Clapton. Give him a J and put on a Clapton CD and he would probably lip sync pretty well...save you some money!!!

Clapton trivia..........Did you know that the song Layla was written about the wife of George Harrison who Clapton stole away from George? 'Tis true......George and Eric are still friends to this day though wink

The shoulder is so so fNi thanks for asking......I'm still in a sling and I still have alot of pain but then again its only been two weeks since the surgery so I guess its to be expected. Still cant spin and its driving me crazy!!!!! Some days are worse than others as far as pain goes and today is a bad one. I woke up in alot of pain today and it really sucks, but monday night was the worst. There was a mix-up at the docters office and my painkiller refill was not called in to my pharmacy. So needless to say I slept for only an hour that night and was in extreme pain all night untill 9 the next morning when the doc's office opened and I got it sorted out so I guess in comparison today really isn't all that bad shrug

ooh...so not fun!!!

I had major surgery some years ago amd my ex-husband took half of my painkillers and sold them!!! If I had been able to I would have given him a reason to need some himself!!!

Yes, did know that about Clapton! Used to be able to play the piano part to Layla, but no piano anymore and have not played in a very long time...
Be lucky to be able to play chopsticks these days!!!

only in spirit... george is no longer with us... RIP frown

ec was and is a great guitarist and a great blues musician, but he (at least until recently now he's sobered up) was never a great human being... stole his best mate's girl (*cringe* damn that sounds familiar), then treated her like sh*t; sad, what a LONG history of chronic substance abuse will do for a person...

I missed SRV's gig at festival hall in brissie in '86... I was in year 12 (last year of high school at the time), can't even remember why I didn't go now... but, now, I only have vid footage to make up for it...

damn shame in his case, cos he cleaned himself up, got off the booze and drugs, and was taken away from us all not long after...

I remember the day!
I was in Hickory,NC, which is in the mountains, with friends and somone came in and told us about it.
We sat around the rest of the evening doing Stevie Ray tunes and getting completely zonked.

The man had skills, no doubt about it!

yup, yup, yup... would love to have seen him live...

SRV trivia: I can barely imagine how strong his hands must've been... this'll only make sense to the guitarists among us... but he used to string his guitar with 13 gauge strings!! most common is 10 gauge, some occasionally stray to 11 gauge (on a standard electric guitar, anyway), and more modern, speed demon, p*ss weak players use 9's or 8's... but 13's!!! most people would be flat out getting a sound out of the guitar, let alone do with it what he did...

Oh oh! I understand it!!!

I restrung Joe's guitar not long after he got it cause the ones on it were crap!!!
Don't remember the gauge, but know exactly what you mean.
Had a way with that git, he did...pure talent!

Crap redface I totaly knew that too.......Its rough posting on pain meds sometimes ubblol

Oh SRV ubblove ubblove ubblove He's another one responsible for me wanting to play guitar. What a brilliant musician and what a huge loss to the music world.......I was so sad the day he died, I taped off the TV all the news and tribute things about him during the week after the accident. I still have the tape somewhere, 6 hours full of interviews and performance footage and news footage of the crash. RIP Stevie frown

Ahhhh yes the 13 gauge strings.......Yeah I knew that and was always impressed by what he could do with them. The bigest I ever went with on my electric were 11's but on my accustic I have 10's.
Hmmmmmmmm as for hand strength though I was sitting here thinking about it and bass strings are bigger than that so I guess it wouldn't really have to much to do with it. shrug I switched my guitar up to 11's after I started to play bass and I hadn't picked up my guitar for like a year because all I was doing was playing my bass. My 10 gauge strings fealt weird after playing bass for so long so I switched to a bigger gauge, it fealt like I was going to break the 10's all the time ubblol11's were much better wink

Yeah EC is a great musician but as for being a good person he fails miserably. Oh and he cant write lyrics to save his life. Most of his lyrics are written by other people and the ones he writes are usually crap. He can sing good though and his guitar playing is legendary wink

SRV trivia: Stevie's first recording band was "Paul Ray and the Cobras"

ok... this time you got me... never heard of "paul ray and the cobras" tongue

I use "not even slinky"s on my electrics... 12s, cos... A) I like the way they sound... and B) no other b*stard can play em... ubblol you get used to them eventually and I don't play that fast anyway... rolleyes

Never heard of them either. Name a tune, Loki, and it might ring a bell.

12's would definitely give your hands a workout. It was A'dagio 11's that I put on Joe's git. I remembered that I had put the pack up so that I'd have them to reference when he needed more.
The git is a Yamaha F35 acoustic. Nice tone.

Yeah "paul ray and the cobras" isn't really well known.......they were only together a short time and were not really big.
If memory serves me right I believe he was in "Triple Threat" next then one of the members left to start a solo career and SRV and the rest of TT started "Double Trouble" who I'm sure you all have heard of wink

Yeah Pogo its all that footage thats responsible for my SRV trivia knowledge wink ubblol
