Im very sad. My computer broke an when it went into get fixed, they said that they had to replace the hard drive so i had nothing left on it....yes yes yes, i should have had back ups im a foolish person but i dont know much about computers. so ive no photos left or uni work or anything. the only pictures i have are the ones in my own gallery on here, and they are all rubbish!! its so depressing, im going back to the old days when you took an old camera out and waited for the pictures to be developed.has this ever happened to anyone else?

Have you tried a specialist, sometimes they can recover stuff even from dead-ish hard drives.
Ask the Geeky ones that lurk in the dark corners on HoP. They may be able to help you.

Next time invest in a DVD drive, nice and cheap these days - £30. Back up 4 gigs of data per single disk.

the data recovery stuff can be trickie,a nd hard at the best of toimes, unless you wnat to spend lots of money getting it back!
but at least nwo you can say to people,
"yeah i had the best shots, but now they are all gone"
and big yourself up more
