Now hold on a second... our heated discussion of Sexy firespinners was censored without any reason or notification? There were quite a few people invested in that conversation including me. If any specific thing was said that was over the line I understand censoring that but a total deletion of all ideas and arguments is a horrible idea!

Or did Smallboy delete his own thread? (Can he do that?)

I specifically didn't look at HoP today so I could wait to get home and see what the rest of the world posted so I have NO idea what conversation took place.

Agree with me or disagree with me but don't delete the thread!

Bring back the thread, let us talk it out like we always do and work through our own stuff. There were too many valid points on both sides to delete such an important discussion.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

In addition, I think we all aired most of our feelings and killing it before we had a chance to process them and find commonality and compromise is the WORST idea.

Every heated discussion on this board that I've gotten into I've learned from. I'd hoped to learn from that one too.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

I suspect Small Boy deleted it himself. The mods usually close threads not delete them.

Just an observation.

Did it? Dang, now I'm really bummed.

C'mon... somebody had to have seen something... dish the dirt! Were people insulting me? Did they use the phrase "elitest, self rightious, egotistical bastard"? Because I assure you, my parents were married when I was born.

I really didn't see it so I'm totally guessing.

"High horse"! That must be it. I'm sure someone told me to "Get off my high horse you ignorant, arrogant capitolist pig"... or swine. Swine sounds better, though "capitalist pig" is better in a fake Russian accent.

I wanna know!

Somebody PM it to me! (Yeah yeah, I'll accept that PM, I promise... )

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

I didn't delete it - can't speak for the other Mods or Malc though. Last I saw was SmallBoy reiterating that it was just meant for fun and that he'd delete it if anyone had any further problems with it.... o yeah - and someone calling NYC an equine egotists or something

I'd used the word 'plasticity' in a sentence. I was quite proud of it. And now it's gone.

Maybe it's just hiding.

Plasticity... plasticity... that's a fun word to say. Plasssssssticity. Wow, I'm never using the word plastic again. I will speak only of objects of great plasticity.

I'm not so sure about megalomaniac... I don't have a good enough laugh for that. I think you need a good hearty cackle for that one...

What about an obstinant, arrogant egotist?... I like the way the vowels flow in that one.

Oh crap, we're getting off topic again... uh...

Have you seen the dictionary episode of Blackadder The Third?

Basically they borrow Samuel Johnson's dictionary (as in the first ever one) and accidentally use it as a fire lighter.

Then they need to rewrite it.

My favourite definition being Baldrick's:

"C - big, blue wobbly thing that fish live in."

Once it's deleted, it is long gone. However, since you are here, why not continue with the discussion...not rehash the heated parts (so I've heard) but actually pick up where you left off?

If you start, others will follow.

Because somebody who yes had a valid point, pushed to far, something someone thought as fun, it got deleated.

NYC yes you had a valid point. Your spat with C@ntus (now I am not taking his side) did not belong there at all!

You do know that some people were having fun. It was ruined, typical democracy. One person is having fun and one person isnt. The second complains and stops the firsts fun. Typical.

My biggest concern is now NOT knowing everything that was said.

Since the thread was deleted before I could read it I can only assume that more insults were thrown at me and others. It seemed like getting everything out in the open was helping. Brushing it under the rug will only serve to make any issues resurface.

I have no idea why some people are upset. I have no idea who is angry with, upset with, disagrees with me. I have no idea what the arguement on the table is. Neither does anyone else.

How can we expect to change HoP for the better if we don't talk about what happened?

Everyone's been speaking in vague terms and we're all bitching about different things.

By deleteing the thread we've deleted any chance of looking over each others' comments and views. It seemed to be a convenient way for Smallboy to cover his tracks and it certainly killed any chance us finding a common ground or working through any of our issues.

Excuse my strong words but it truely seemed cowardly and selfish. Obviously others had vested interest in the thread.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

I spoke to smallboy that day and he told me he is deleting it as he felt that it was getting too heated and it felt like it could 'cause a rift in our community. The closing of the thread was a gesture of apology me thinks, and what intended to be harmless fun was percieved by some as offensive. Smallboy I would guess was trying to keep some of the bad vibes out of HOP.

I do agree that it would be good to vent some things that are on our minds, however to a newbie who has just entered HOP may have been frightened off by such replies. Imagine you were a newbie and you saw that kind of reaction to posts, would you be so keen to post yourself or join in such a community.

I know this is on another thread but think before you type and try to remember your audience. This is a PUBLIC forum and if we want to create a nice environment for everyone to join we may have to bite our tongues occasionally.

Please read the "what is the point?" thread. That is a good place to vent some things but for all those who do, try to keep your arguments well thought out because in such an environment it is too easy to put too much emotion into a post.

To the point as I am going off topic. This should not be a topic about censorship but one of respect to others. I am not asking people to censor there views but try to keep their emotions in check occasionally as it is easy to regret what you say in anger and although we have the power to edit our posts someone may have already read it before you make your changes. This is not just in reference to the thread we are talking about but often in political debate which occasionally gets personal, and also in social threads where one-up manship is starting to take hold.

A piece of advice for everyone in HOP world and in real life. If you feel yourself getting emotional (angry or otherwise) take a deep breath count to three and decide if what you were about to say is actually what you mean. I personally catch myself many times when I am about to say something in the heat of the moment and I take a brief second to stop and think and gather my thoughts.

HOP is getting steamy someone open a window!!!
