Hi everyone. I'm still kinda new at this so if this thread has been done before please let me know!

I would like to know where everyone's ideal place to spin is. (all things like the cost and practicality of doing it aside ).

I want to try spinning in snow but have only been doing it for a couple of months so haven't had the oppourtunity yet!

Um, how about the Millenium Dome? Or Gate Crasher? Ha ha. Check out www.feedingthefish.com
Man I have to get to England to see these guys.

Actually we were at a really beautiful spot in BC during an outdoor party at the mouth of the Salmon Arm River an hour down a logging road near an abandoned mill. Some pics are at:

( I'm not juggling or spinning, just roaming around being happy there. But some others are. ; )

My favourite place to spin is in a park in the sunshine (but hiding in the shade under a tree).

But my ideal place to spin would have to be with fire on a beach with some funky drummers going...

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

yeah, i agree with rozi, on the beach with drums, or on the top of a coastal headland, like fingal, but no moshquetoes!! With a good bunch of friends.

It's all good

I think that on a beach with drummers is going to get a fair number of votes, it's the best place I can think of - preferably a nice sandy beach though, none of the pebble ones we get here

The top of a snow covered mountain would be pretty damn good too though, although it'll be far too cold to do it for long

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

i've always wanted to go on top of one of those giant "L" shaped pole thingys they use at construction sites (technical term, i swear! ) and spin at the top of a city... doubt it would be possible though. or on a cliff overlooking a beautiful arizona sunset...

Moon would be good, but would it work? Fire would not work! Would the reduced gravity affect it much? It would be harder to slow poi down, since gravity pulling against the upswing would be less and no air-resistance. Can you spin in zero-G? Start the twirling and they just keep going!

otherwise I would have to say I want to spin at THE CENTER OF THE EARTH! why?
-no getting snowed out!
-no need for a lighter!
-et cetera.

meh. there must be someplace better. in the meantime, anyone got a shovel?

i'm a figure skater, but i also do ice dancing. i think it would be pretty kick ass if i could put poi into a routine... dunno how long the flame would last... considerin the whole -2 degrees (celcius) and the speed i can get... but it would be worth a try one day... maybe

but i would have to agree with rozi- saying on the beach with drummers... which i've done... but tis awesome! think thats a pretty kick ass background setting. specially late at night.

And wherever you've gone and wherever we might go. It don't seem fair. Today just disappeared.

Sparkie, there have been quite a few jugglers who have done torch routines on ice, so it certainly does work! Albert Lucas, Kit Summers, and many others have done work for Ice Capades and similar shows. One dude ( can't remember who ) even did on a unicycle with ice pick treads, ha ha.
