hey all,

i was wondering if anything exciting, fresh, or happy-making has happened to any of you this week? i've had a lot of stoopid, frustrating stuff happen, and would love hearing that at least somewhere, folks are having a kick-ass time

Yesterday I had my last university exam. Graduation is in a month. Tomorrow I'm taking a train to spend a few days with my boyfriend. It's weeks like this that make all the other crap worth it, so hang in there smile

I AM!!!

bounce biggrin bounce2 bounce ubbloco bounce bounce2 biggrin bounce

I have exams, revision, I'm not very well, I can't go play in the sun cos I have too much to do....... BUT.........

......... I am stupidly happy! My life is full of lovely people, luck, light and oppertunities. It's rich and healthy(ish), I have yummy things in the fridge, goals to achieve, new targets to pinpoint, things to teach and learn and share and..... I was walking back from the library and an ice-cream van stopped and I couldn't stop grinning with my ice-cream in one hand and textbooks in the other!

I'm learning a new toy (shhh! it's a secret) and even though I can't play with it much at the moment it's full of new possibilities.....
I walked past the park yesterday and a whole group of people were playing frisbee and I stopped and played for half an hour which made me feel great ubbrollsmile
I have lots of beautiful music to enjoy while I study.....
I have had some wonderful messages from dear dear friends who I love and treasure.......
Most importantly - the sun has got his hat on and he's shining right into my heart and it's all lovely!

sunny

I am beside myself! Thank you for giving me a place to share it! I'm thinking of you Kelly and your frustrating week - I hope I can breathe a little light and warmth into it hug

I FOUND HoP!!!!

I've been on the internet for 9 years and this is the first forum I like enough to stick around in. Absolutely everyone is so completely friendly, fluffy and fun!

I'm also getting electronics stuff to join in on the development of funky new color changing [Old link]. So my freaky geekiness gets to make the world a more colorful place.

oh wow! you guys are so wonderful!! i had no idea my little thread would get so many responses. bounce

fluff! you sounds like such a vibrant, happy person -- yaay for being able to see so much joy in your life. i think i definitely need to take a page from your book -- you've totally made me smile today smile smile smile

cuddles for everyone indeed! hug especially to that wee baby quail - how cute is that! can you post a picture of your new fluffy, starpoi?

so! i think that despite any grump-inducing nonsense this week has thrown my way, I can at least hope my yeti poi will *finally* arrive today, or at least in time for the long weekend. if not, well, i've a few pairs of streelights that i can alter to make them more break-resistant.

i hope everyone has a wonderful weekend (long or otherwise!)

Oooh! I'm trying to hatch a duck egg.

The parents (all 3 of them) were camping out on our front lawn for a week or so, and this egg appeared one morning in the middle of the lawn. The female was really fat a couple of days later, and they've obviously found a proper nesting site now, as I haven't seen them since.

Either that or coming in to land on the front lawn to be greeted by the sight of my sisters mini going up in flames, a fire engine, a load of firemen and huge cloads of steam and smoke scared them off.

I didn't leave the egg on the lawn as it didn't seem a good place to bring up your young what with all the chavscum (.co.uk) in the street.

I'm keeping it humid and at 100-101°F, and turning it 3 times a day.

I candled it at 3 days and it looked like there was something growing on the yolk, but the shell's a bit thick so it's difficult to see. Going to try again tomorrow.

3 more weeks to hatching time.

my boyfriend is holding it, then it tried to jump/clumsily fall off his hand!

I just saw it drinking and its on solid food already! its so amazing to watch! I grew up with baby birds everywhere but the novelty doesn't wear off!

It keeps falling over onto its back and getting stuck so we have to roll it over!

wow wow wow ! ubbloco Totally tiny - I'd be far too scared to touch the little guy!

I am glad I made you smile. It all comes back to Bender's battery theory (or was it about being glow-in-the-dark?) I can't remember. Anyway. It was about shining your light onto someone else when you can, and when the lights go out they shine it back onto you. But he put it far more beautifully than that. ubblol I've been absorbing a LOT of good energy of late and am only too happy to direct some your way hug2 biggrin

I'm just seeing if it hatches at the moment, if it does then I've always wanted to keep ducks, I just never realised it could be done so easily till I found this site.

I could release it into the wild when it's old enough, this is a riverside town with a lot of tourists, so the ducks here are all used to people. The 3 parents pretty much knocked on the door and tried to come in. I'll dig out the photo I've got.

I'd probably keep it and get a couple more ducks for company, and keep them for eggs.

It is sooo easy and so much fun! I grew up on a far and we bred all sorts of birds...seems like i'm following in my parents footsteps!

We got our incubator from ebay, you can get small ones that take a dozen eggs for about £30...definately worth it.

Be careful releasing them in the park. My cousin did that and they just followed him home..three times till he gave up and kept them!

Sorry marmalade for hijacking your thread with all this bird talk!
