Hey all, just a quick hello seeing as I'm new to this site and poi too! I've had some for about a year and in the last couple of days have just learned to to the weave and reverse as well as the corkscrew and windmill (kinda)! I'm well impressed! I managed to hit myself in the eye with a tennis ball at speed earlier on! OUCH!
Anyway, any tips for hip reels would be most appreciated especially seeing as I cannot get my body to spin poi behind my back!

Hi there!
Since you are actually in Falmouth, you might want to check out the events thread. There are about 100 Hopper's descending on a campsite at the beach as I'm typing this. It should be a lot of fun and you will certianly meet some cool peeps if you can make it out at all.

Hey dude!
I know - cant hitting yourself real hard with the pois be a double whammy - first of all you're in complete stunned pain (how could it have gone wrong?) then the ego pain hits - sometimes its just as bad!
Keep at it and dont forget to trust your body - sometimes your head just screws you up!

So what's actually going on at this falmouth thing? Is it ok to just go along - bearing in mind i'm completely crap with meeting new people! I dunno if I'll be able to make it as I have to work, but sounds interesting anyways. I'm off now to get some much earned practice time before my fonce gets home! He doesn't appreciate poi and just finds it hilarious that I have made some out of socks just to stop hurting myself! LOL! Oh well!

I find that I don't hit myself so often if I close my eyes when I'm learning a new trick. Feels unnatural at first but it really does help, it also helps you store the trick in 'arm memory' more quickly.
