I know a friend of mine and I both received emails from the United Arab Emerites saying that they wanted to bring our shows to the middle east for a month (Jan to Feb 2003). My friend's note mentioned India, mine mentioned Iran and Afghanistan.
Anyone else get these?
And concidering the issues in some of these countries, what is your opinion on going?

I was offered Dubai, but unfortuately there is no way I can go due to other commitments. If i was free though I'd be there in a shot.

Check out the post Charles started about the same issue several days ago. I forgot what it is called exactly, but several people posted there input to the idea. Apparently many, many people around the world got the exact same notice that you did to perform in Dubai.

I got a similar letter myself. Asked me for details of my crew, staging requirements etc. Work offered in UAE Bahrain Kuwait and I think Oman, all Persian Gulf states and Islamic to the best of my knowledge. Someone must have found our meet others listing for fire performers while looking for talent.
Most of the stories I've heard of people being treated badly in Islamic countries stem from them being ignorant of Islamic sensibilities.

I am not being predjudace or racest by saying this but I do not trust the UAE, I have my reasons some can figure a few out, but I am not going to say why just yet.
If you do decide to go, be sure to keep in constant contact with your embassy and do not take anything at face value.

Hey Mike whats goin on? Pretty boring weekend right now. I have no desire to go off base (mainly becuase I have to wait for the banks to open to get any money) right now but then again this is my second trip to the country, it hasnt changed a bit.
