Hey everybody! Nice ta meet ya!
I've been bashing myself on the head with a diabolo for about a year now, so i thought i'd get some poi and see how well my hair burns!
I'm a 6 foot 2 weightlifting juggling physicist south african living in the back end of no-where in britain - want to know more? ask!!!

dude, you said you were south african, by any chance were you the random south african spinner that i met on picadilly gardens who spun my fire poi who'd left his in south africa?

no mate, i only just started poi
been doing diabolo for about a year but my gf gave me my first poi (fire ones...she expects alot, huh?) last week
so far i've managed the butterfly, the big butterfly, and anti-spinning...thats about it (Blush)
so no, i am not that man!

anti-spinning. Lucky swine! Ive been trying 4 a while to get them done... The existance of flamethrowers says that someone, somewhere, at sometime said "I need to set that thing on fire, but it's too far away."

um...did i get the right? anti-spinning = making one poi go one way and the other go the other...its a bit like patting your head and rubbing your stomache :S bah

I think anti-spin is different to what you're describing. I believe it's when the poi is travelling in a direction that is counter to that of your arm.
Although i don't do poi, so i could be wrong.
Someone much cleverer than me will come along eventually and tell us the answer I'm sure.
in the meantime Welcome to HoP. Feel free to come to my intro and pick a corner, they number infinitely and are more than enough to go around.
ignore all the glitter and the fact that all the furniture is fastened to the ceiling. I've had some lunatics redecorating whilst i was away...

The tale of King Canute tells of a king who was really rather silly and thought he could stop the tides simply by commanding them.
Of course, our own lovely Cantus isn't in the slightest bit silly

Oh and i do not spin fire. I don't know where you get that idea from. Ask anyone. Although many people will tell you i don't spin at all (but i have video evidence now). So be careful who you ask....

i bought my mum the complete dvd of Bagpuss and the Clangers as well
i just don't live at home anymore
i loved the clangers tho
