I understand they are not sharpened, but they still have a false edge don't they? I reckon while spinning really fast and falling from a few feet in the air, that false edge is perfectly capable of causeing serious injury.

They're pretty standard kit in the juggling world.
Obviously they're metal and they've got pointy bits; but they're only dangerous in the sense that stilts, fire spinning, acrobalance etc. are (ie, in you don't take care you could get hurt).
Certainly much, much safer than fire breathing or juggling chainsaws/real matchetes etc.
Nevertheless, I guess a warning wouldn't hurt; I believe that beamers used to have a warning and I'd say the potential for harm from beamers and juggling knives is about the same.

i was contemplating buying some beamers but all this stuff i hear about them is really scaring me off.... are they really that bad?

I've got a set of beamers and had no problems whatsoever with them. Probably because my natural spinning style is very slow and controlled anyway, and, when spinning something really hard and heavy like beamers, I emphasise the slowness and control.
However, I've known others, including some spinners who are very skilled, really mash themselves up with them (eg broken nose, damaged teeth etc).
Everyone, however good, makes mistakes, and, if they spin really fast, then a mistake with beamers will hurt.
Here's what HOP say about them-

I didn't beleive the beamer hype, until I used some and just gently knocked my knee (with far less force I'd normally do a recoil wrap). It hurt. For ages.

There's no comparison mike.
Admittedly the light weight of a gonad means it'll hurt less than a beamer, but that same lack of weight makes them IMO, totally unsuitable for spinning with.
There's also availability issues.

As for the knife thing, last time i checked theres big bold font underneath them syaing "experienced jugglers only". i realise that a bit more could be said about them concerning the danger bit, but.......they are knifes, blunt ones, but knifes none the less, the picture of them kinda says by it's self "I HURT THINGS!!:)"

Now heres my spiel on the knives.
When it says experianced users only it really says all that it needs to.
A smart juggler will know their skill level and will know that when it says for experianced people only. a person should know wether they are up for the knives or not.
When i was an itty bitty little juggler i juggled anything i could find including razor sharp knives from my kitchen (much to the heart atacks of my parents) i was skilled enough to juggle knives and the blunt knives that are made for jugglers would have been a much more healthy option. Lets face it. you cannot make a product especially so that its idiot proof. thats very much true for juggling and performance equipment also.
All juggling, fire and performance equipment is specialist equipment.
and should be used by specialists.
People know when they are ready to juggle knives......... or kittens

yeah, i dont think juggling knives need more of a warning than "experienced users only". for one, its not like many people in the public actually get their hands on proper jugling knives and before all the shows i've seen the performer has always cautioned "not to try this at home". and like the Doktor said, any juggler who is worth his salt will know when he/she is ready to juggle knives.
