i'm really finding this hard to stomach. i was born a hockey fan and with the 2005 season being officaily cancelled i can't but feel that a little peice of me has been cancelled with it. there will be no stanley cup playoffs for me and my friends to watch this year. no beers to be drank in victory or loss. the annual calgary migration(final calgary game of the season me and my friends go to) will not be made this year. hockey is a way of life here and one of the defining points of our culture. and now its gone.

The thing is if they dont sort it out then there is a good chance that there wont be a season in 06 either Which could set back the NHL and its members in so many ways. Your right it really does suck...Go Penguins go!

That's sad. Even as someone who knows and cares nothing about any sport personally, I can see how sad it is.
Hope things get sorted out, sorry you have to miss this years season.

You're kidding. I'm not in Canada for the year, and won't see any Canadian hockey... but this is a stab in the heart! This is terrible! A tragedy!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHH *promptly flips out... again* How could they do this?!?! Why must money corrupt everything?!

Yeah... but they won't! It's the spirit of the game that people watch it for. And now there is none. No game. No spirit. No one will want to play them any more than before. If anything, watching the games would be inspiration to play hockey

But the reason they want so much money is that they are greedy, not content with playing the sport which they love and being paid more money in one year then i inevatably will in my lifetime and not content with the superstar status they can achieve. Sorry but professional athelethes can be jerks and so can the federations that support them, such as the NHL

My hockey season just ended last night and i usually sit down and start watchin pro hockey when its over, not this year personaly i would play and not care how much i got paid, if i was pro, being able to play hockey past highschool and college is what most hockey players dream of, i know that i would pay other people if i could go on playing long after my college career was over. anyone else feel that way or am i just a hockey nut?
