juggle weavesmiley Manchester Spinner’s Meet up and stuff weavesmiley juggle

Hi all If you are looking for people to spin poi with in the North west this is the place to be.

For any one new to this sight DON’T READ THE WHOLE THREAD it has been going a long time and contains lots of old information and chat about previous meet ups and organisation stuff just go to the last few posts to find out the most up-to-date information on current events.

First a bit of info the Manchester spinners lot is no professional spinning troop or organised events it is just a group of people who get together to enjoy themselves. The first meet up was organised way beck in September 04 https://delizium.fotopic.net/c291964.html

The crowd has changed a bit from back then but we have kept a few old timers we welcome all along to come and join us for a spin whether you be experienced or a complete beginner we are willing to teach and learn from you.

Their is no set time for the meet ups they are usually organised around when people can make it and how long they can stay.

I will try to update this first post as often as I can with the most up-to-date info on meet ups and club nights that allow spinning but if I'm being a bit lax just find the last few posts foe up-to-date info (like I said before weren’t you paying attention)

To date the standard meets have gone as meet up in Piccadilly gardens at 4pm (nice central point where every one can get to) Then move on down to the Gas Works/CastleField or Plat fields Park depending on the wether till everyone gets to cold/tired/burned then on to the pub

( anybody who doesn’t know where this is it can be arranged for someone to come meet you at the train station or wherever you are coming from .) smile

{ ubblove We are a nice bunch like that ubblove}

Accommodation for a night can usually be arranged but you need to sort this well in advance no just turning up expecting somewhere to sleep eek

(more to be added and all to be spell checked soon)

pm me any info you would like to add

before i met those lot i thought they'd be a bunch of dreadlocked hippies that smoked, set things on fire ,and drank a lot of tea but then when i met them....oh wait (PyroWill)

Actually - that's the weekend after Glasto?

Steaky, Cantus doesn't do the flirty thing anymore. He's certainly not as bad as me when it comes to the wooing. He's woo'd anyway, so shush biggrin

Plus, you're even worse than me! Even with the beard. You really shouldn't try to bully Cantus, he'll only go and bully you right back biggrin ubbrollsmile ubblove ubbloco

FREE AFRICAN ACROBATICS/CIRCUS AND DANCE WORKSHOPS
From: 09/06/2007
To: 09/06/2007
type: Workshop
We are having a long awaited visit to Manchester from the legendary Circus Baobab, from Guinée in Africa, in June. They will be performing their wild and exuberant show “Jumping Drums” in Castlefield Arena on Friday June 8th and Saturday June 9th. On the Saturday they are offering free workshops to people keen to do some acrobatics and African movement/dance. Workshops will be held in the workshop space (and possibly the main performance space depending on demand) at the Green Room Theatre in the city centre. They will run the workshops 11am – 1pm and 2-4pm. Depending on demand, they will either run one of each simultaneously, or one in the morning and one in the afternoon. So I am putting out feelers to see how much interest there is, and what level of skill you may already have. (Personally I think what they will bring to their workshops is pure energy – turning any level of skill into something effervescent, fast, joyous and energising – that’s how their performances work) Please could you respond to me if you are interested and plan to come (giving me some idea of the relative likelihood of you actually making it!!) and let me know which activity you would like (or both) and which session(s) Please could you also pass this on to any contacts you think may be interested. Well, it would seem that I am now going to this audition.

I'm very nervous, I've not really done anything like this before.

I desperately need some advice, what to wear, do I need to do a routine etc.

HELP!

Pricklyleaf,

Don't be nervous...

Just put together something resembling a routine, pick a song, bring the CD with you and just play, make it look like you know what you're doing. Use as many props you feel confident with. If you have a costume, bring it. They asked me if I had any parafin with me, i didn't if you feel like bringing some along bring it.

If you plan on being a fire artist for them you WILL need to get public liability insurance, they will provide the details on how to obtain it.

You driving or walking? Tip - if walking, if you get to a sign before a roundabout that says 'subway closed, use alternative route - PAY ATTENTION!!!

Do I need insurance for the audition?!

Also, what kind of music should I take.

I have no clue about dance music... does it matter what genre it is?

It went well, they've offered me a place with them. YAY!

BUT

Regarding the insurance, no you don't have to have insurance for the audition itself. But seeing as I may be going to Australia in September I don't think it'll be worth it for me to buy a year's worth for 2 months! Unless I can guarantee it'll pay for itself!

Costume doesn't really matter, music - ANYTHING you can spin or juggle to though they do remind you that if you're being hired out for a club you don't really have any choice in the music if you're something like a background entertaining so be versitle...

Just relax... That's all you need to do!
