I was wondering, as the poll function of the site obviously works perfectly well, why isn't it available to everyone?

I don't know, to be honest. I didn't realise it was a limited option - it's just there for me when I create a new thread.

I am, very gently, going to move this across to Help. Malcolm is more likely to see it there. smile

it could become *really annoying* if people start creating polls everytime they make a thread. Could we limit it to one poll per person per fortnight?

maybe if you wanted a poll you could submit a request to a mod or such?

on other forums it doesn't seem to be abused very much but then againmost aren't half as busy as this place so maybe one every two weeks could be a good idea smile Make people put more thought into them before they use them perhaps

Especially since I reckon most of them would be 'Poll: What music do you listen to while spinning?' threads.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

After I saw FFs poll, I was thinking of putting up a poll with pictures of my hair at three different lengths - shaved, medium short, and long, and asking people to vote which they thought looked best on me.

Is this the kind of thing we want on HoP? I figured it was a good thing I couldn't do it.

I don't think there'd be more music polls than there are random newbs just asking what your favourite type of music is. If there's a poll option I doubt it will create MORE of these sorts of thread, it'll just change the format they take.

I think threads with polls should be marked as such on the topic display though, so you know which have and which haven't got them. Personally. And you should be told whether or not polls are anonymous (ie could mods find out who voted what) just because if polls appeared in discussion people might be inclined to reveal serious things about their beliefs etc they wouldn't be comfortable expressing when named. I think it could really open up stuff in that forum especially.

Besides, people love filling in polls. Instant gratification. And you can't see the results until you've voted, thus encouraging even lurkers to vote.

Perhaps I'm just thinking asbout this a bit too much.

What a wonderful miracle if only we could look through each other's eyes for an instant.

maybe there could be a poll forum?

Social Chat
Social Discussion
Polls

That'd keep them all seperate and wouldn't cause too much fuss or disruption to any other forum.

Just a thought smile
