Greetings HoPers, I have been with you for a short while now so I suppose a formal introduction is in order. Here is the short and skinny.

Name: Ben

Age: Everyone is the age of their heart.

Sex: Male

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, a big city in the southeast US. Just so you know, not everyone in the south is a truck driving, rebel flag waving, southern drawl speaking, sister marrying redneck character from the movie Deliverance or Nell. Now SQUEAL like a pig!

How I Started: I went to a regional burn: Transformus and saw [Old link] and troupe performing. It absolutely blew my mind and I was hooked. A good friend of mine won a set of fire poi there at an X rated Simon says game. His wife was a bit bitter at the way he won them so he gave them to me.

I practiced for about a month and went to Burning Man where I lost my fire virginity and met some of the most amazing spinners on the planet. I have been practicing just about every day since, building poi monstrosities for myself and others and spreading the word through performances at events and parties.

Hobbies: Surfing (not the web), programming, hacking, game mods, graphic arts, cycling, role playing

Interests: Fire!, anime, horror, pirates(AARRRRR!), historical Japanese swords.

Hangouts: Goth\fetish\BDSM clubs, Burning Man, seedy metal dives, city pride festivals.

Music: All things dark, industrial and gothic, most punk, lots of hardcore, ample metal and some techno\trance. A few of my favorite bands include: AFI, Danzig, Nekromantix, Tiger Army, The Faint, My Chemical Romance, Clutch, Rammstein, Bella Morte, Bright Eyes, Shai Hulud, KMFDM.

Movies: Yojimbo\Sanjuro\Ran\Seven Samurai, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dawn of the Dead, Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Labrynth

Colors: Black and blood blood red.

Occupation: Professional slacker

I hate: Corporate subculture, stubborn ignorance and violence. Golf sucks too.

I love: Dogs, perfect waves, HoP, and people that aren't afraid to be individuals (Freaks).
