Hello everybody. wave

I'm Inge, 17 years old (30-11-'87)
I live in the Netherlands.
I play in an orchestra where I play the violin.
Since this summer I'm in that orchestra.
There I met Heike, who goes by the name of
Nantheos on this forum, he showed me how to spin poi weavesmiley
After the first time I so I fell in love with
his poi's ubblove. So I made them my self.
But they weren't very strong so (with Heike's help)
I bought my one poi's.
So now since a week I've got my one.
I really want to start with fire poi's.
But my dad isn't very happy with that,
because he is too afraid that I'll burn my face or something frown
So I still have to convince him, that poiing really is very cool.
So if somebody has any tips how to convince him, I'm open for it.

Kiss MyIng wave

Welcome Mying, and BIG congratulations on learning to twirl and getting your 1st set of poi.

If you want to stay away from fire glow poi or beaming poi also look great also and you can't do any damage to your beautiful face.

Hi Inge and welcome,

Hmmm... I don't have kids but I have a 17 year old niece. I suppose I wouldn't want her spinning fire poi unless she had lots & lots of practice first. My only suggestion would be to demonstrate to your dad how good you are at the non-flaming poi. If you can convince him that you are so good that hurting yourself is unlikely, he may give in. wink

Barring that, well, you're 18 next year and at that point you can probably do what you want, when you want, (assuming you move out of the house...)

Just my 2 cents,

Ilanah (who is not old enough to be her niece's mother!) rolleyes

If I can't dance, I don't want your revolution.

I all ready want to thank you for your warmth welcome.
And thank you fiendich I was very flattered by your answer (although I hope that wasn't sarcastic).
And too ladyilanah, I have a very good father daughter relation with my dad, I don't want to harm by doing things he just don't want me to do because he cares about me.
But your first idea I like, and I really hope that when I give al little show to him, and I don't hit myself he will give his permission.
Kiss

But I think teaching him poi is kinda brilliant smile ubbangel
