Well..I was told to make an introduction thread, so here it is.
My name is Heike van Lenthe, 17 years old (11-jan-1987), I live in the Netherlands. I'm into poi since this summers holidays (August 2004). I was in Croatia and there I met this German guy, who was firespinning on a small peer in the sea. I looked great. When he was finished I went to him to say it looked great. He gave me his tennisbal poi's to try it out, and the first thing I did was a weave. He was stunned and a little pissed because that had took him like a month or something. I practiced for 3 days with both the tennisballs and his firepoi's (no fire..) and then i did it with fire.
Fast forward to now : after messing around with some self-built stuff I decided to spend some money and ordered a set of ultimate performance poi's and some 4 inch Kea fire poi's. They work great, allthough I am still not sure what fuel works best, because in the Netherlands kerosene is not quite freely available. I tried petroleum, it burns nice and long, but is smells pretty bad. Lampoil doesn't smell that bad, burns about the same, but a lot shorter, at least...that was the impression it gave me. Until this day I have yet to get my maiden burn. Poi-burn that is, because I have been playing with fire longer than I can remember.
I hope to keep on poiing for quite a long time, and to inspire a lot of people to start poiing too.

I would not mind giving you a nice big slice of my freshly baked space-brownies, or a nice big cup of 'herbal' tea...Cannabis has a way of making you relaxed...

Fuero: If time and sufficient transportation present themselves I will absolutely try and attend one of your meetings..the trainticket is waay to expensive, so I'll have to wait for my drivers license ( I'm 18 in January)

Absolutely nothing. I think that every newbie should have their intro hijacked. I think we do a GREAT job at it.
