Have you seen how feckin' expensive property in Cornwall is? Even if we sold our 3-bed detached house in the Middenlands, we'd not be able to afford a one-bed flat down there!

ahhh i see you know of my little town then...lol great fun.

but gothmuppet is right on the reason, plus they do not like 'strangers' all that much unless your passing by on holidays.
But at the minute its
some where near the sea but also near some nice woodlands and within easy travel to the local town/city as i can not drive
any ideas? hug

Try South Wales. Swansea is a big-ish City and it has the mountains close by and the most beautiful coast line of the Gower on its doorstep. If you pick carefully where to live you will be on a direct bus route to Swansea, the mountains and the beach.

what specifically is it that you don't like about nuneaton?

how about devon (although similar problems to cornwall) or maybe dorset?

not sure what property prices are like around the new forest but i know a lot of the surrounding villages are gorgeous smile

Not strictly true (assuming that you're talking about us Cornish, its the people that buy holiday homes in Cornwall that cause all the house-price problems in this area!

At this time of year, I would guess that about 60 - 70% of houses in the prettier areas of Cornwall are totally uninhabited. I even heard the other day that there is a waiting list to buy holiday homes in the village where one of my friends lives!!!!

Yeah, prices are silly down here! frown other than that, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! I have the sea about a mile away and some of the most breath-taking scenery on the moors a few miles away, and its not too far to travel to get to the city! The whole not driving thing might be a big issue for you though - public transport is infrequent at best!

That's presactly what i was going to suggest, what a funny coincidence, that i live there and so do you!! biggrin but South Wales also covers Cardiff and what you have here is the perfick sized big-small city! Which does have beach in the vicinity, although house prices here are pretty stupid too - best to go mountainwards a bit - although not too far - and you might find a nice balance... or of course there is leftwards in the direction of the aforementioned swansea... but best not t'other way, or you'll wind up in newport.... if you're looking for any clues what newport is like, please refer to goldie lookin' chain... biggrin biggrin

So it's looking like the general consensus is Wales or Cornwall! my two favourite places! I'd recommend them both biggrin
