Ok, now i must admit, im a BIG Most Haunted fan and last night on the live show i was pretty amazed. Its stupid really because i see ghosts and experience paranormal activity all the time but i still dont believe BELIEVE that they're dead people or spirits.

Ive had problems with my opinions on ghosts. My ex boyfriend used to tease me for my interest in the subject. Some people have also come to the conclusion that im some kind of vampire goth type person (which im not- this week anyway) because im open to discussion on the topic (ok so it doesnt help that im witch but when you start talking about paranormal stuff in an intellectual manner and they go "God your so sexy!" its so goddam annoying - i beleive the guy in question who said that *gets off* on women who are mysterious and magical or something which is very SAD) anyway where was i?

Right- ghosts. Lets have an honest, open, unbiased discussion about ghosts. Are they good things or evil? Are they really dead people? Im so hyped up about it i NEED to talk about it!

YAY its Halloween soon! (Samhain). Im gonna have a MASSIVE party like i did last year. Thats kinda ghost related right? (joke- i KNOW it is!) lol Anyway... your opinions please

My friends wiccan, I'm semi-wiccan... meaning that im solitary but am not fanatic about following all traditions. However Ive kind of emcompassed othe religions into my own so now i beleive all kinds of "weird" stuff lol.

Personally, I don't believe in anything that doesn't exist. I reckon weird stuff does happen, but I don't think its physically anything to do with dead people or "spirits" or whatever. The power of suggestion is a mystical beast, many people see what they want to. I don't reckon its that silly either - I'd love it if ghosts existed, and I always want to see crazy stuff on programs like that one. Same way I'd like to believe in god; its just I can't lie to myself about things.

I saw some program where there were a load of different rooms, like catacombs or something, I don't remember the exact location, which was said to be severly haunted - some rooms more so than others. They checked out the magnetic fields of these rooms, and 'experts' predicted which ones would be more likely to make people see stuff - then they got some members of the public and randomly allocated them rooms without telling them which were meant to be "haunted." The ones in the most haunted rooms totally freaked out, thought people were touching them, could hear breathing etc, it was class. The ones in less haunted rooms didnt get spooked.

Im really funny about that whole Wiccan vs Witch thing. I used to call myself a Wiccan but i prefer the title Witch because it suits me more. Theres an interesting article on it at Witchvox. Basically i dont make any distingusihes between the two titles. Hope that doesnt confuse you.

Right these are the things i can think of right now but i know theres loads more spooky stuff bt ill add it when i remember it.

Ive seen Mrs Holloway, the wife of the founder of my university walking along coridoors in Founders ( www.rhul.ac.uk )

i see my dead cat all the time and ive felt him jump on my bed numerous times as well as my boyfriends dead cat, ive felt people hold my hand when there was no one there.

i was in my grand mothers old house which was a 16th Centuary Quaker meeting house and had one HELL of a time. I slept in a bedroom in the attick which not only overlooked the church aisle next door but was above a room where they drove the hearses through to the new graveyard in the houses back garden. The house itself was built on an older graveyard and my grandad used to dig up skulls and stuff. Anyway, doors used to open and slam closed on their own. Always felt like i was being watched and frankly hated- Woke up one night and me, my bed and the surrounding area for about two feet was sopping wet with water as if it had flooded. I slept on the downstairs sofa as we thought the roof was leaking. Checked on it the following day to clear up the mess and -nothing- bone dry, no staines, nothing (ghosts are often reported to leave puddles or smething).

In my last halls of residence i saw numerous unexplained shadows of people cross my walls. This also happened in my dads office is Sidcup. Interesting thing about those two buildings: on the floors that i saw these shadows people had either jumped out a window to their death or fallen off during the buildings construction. I

n Belgium vsiting the trenches i had a panick attack in the museum because i suddenly felt i had hundreds of people screaming at me. I dont remember the rest of that day but people say i was walking around talking to things that werent there in the graveyards. Now in some places i suddenly feel there are people gathered round me trying to talk and i feel suffocated so i have to leave even if im completely alone.

Once when i was little something grabbed my elbow whilst i was lying in bed. I wasnt alseep because my dad had scared the hell out of me with a ghost story and i thought it was him who'd grabbed me so i looked down and there was nothing there.

Ive been in rooms where ive looked up and ive seen dozens of flashing lights that resembeled 'orbs' which apparently you can only see on night vision cameras but thats the only comparison i can make... ive seen them loads of times whatever they are.

OH OH! Dover castle! I got really scared for no reason when i was little in the tunnles that run under it and i kept saying there were men down there. I remember this big oak door that led off down this other tunnle because it seemed alive and just terrified me. Anyway a few years later i saw a programme on Dover castle and it was the first time ive ever heard of the hauntings there. They showed the door i remembered at night. Basically it just banged and moved with no one around.

Ok, thats all i can think of right now...

I don't think I believe in ghosts, but I do tend to get freaked out by scary films, so there is something about them. Maybee just fear of the unknown.

I just find it hard to believe that something like ghosts could exist.
I mean there is still no actual proof. Only what people say, and all photo's and videos of ghosts have either been proved fake or have a another perfectly normal explanation.

The same applies for UFOs. I do belive in life on other planets but I don't belive they have been here.

And before people ask. Yes I do need proof for me to belive such things.

I don’t honestly know if I believe in ghosts or not but I’ve got a (relatively) open mind and a causal interest in the paranormal. My family has a small history of ghosts, mostly to do with my mum and my little brother. Right here goes…

My mum once picked up a “hitchhiker”. She was driving and suddenly felt that something horrible was sitting in the back of the car, she even turned the rear view mirror away so that she wouldn’t catch sight of it. While she was driving trying to figure out what to do (she didn’t want to take this thing home) it was suddenly gone. My older brother did some digging in the local history and found that a woman had drowned near the spot that mum had first felt the presence. The body wasn’t found for three weeks.

My house was apparently haunted by a little girl. My little brother (very young at the time, and I was too young to remember) kept going on about “the little girl” and mum felt that when she walked into a room she had startled someone, she eventually resorted to saying loudly “It’s OK, it’s only me” whenever she when up the stairs. Apparent the girl eventually faded away, mum reckons that the girl eventually felt accepted and went.

My aunt (my mum’s sister) died when mum was out of the country. When mum was on the plane home, she was suddenly aware of someone sitting next to her, wearing her sister’s green jumper. The person said, “Be strong, they need you at home”. Mum turned and, in classic style, there was no one there.

There are more but I’m bored of typing. What does being a witch/wiccan involve, or rather, what are YOUR personal beliefs, rules, rituals whatever?

Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I can beat the world into submission.

For me witchcraft bases round studying the powers of nature and the Earth. I spend alot of my time studying the medicinal properties of plants and herbs, alternative healing through gemstones (which i also collect) and through positive thinking therapy.

This all flows into spell weaving through symbollic elements such as earth, fire, wind and water which encourage positive or defensive manisfestations and that is all. No black or grey magick thank you! lol

Through that i then apply and embrace the religious element. I believe in a Lord and Lady who represent the 'ying and yang' of our world and are in turn our creators.

I believe in the three fold rule where whatever you send out will come back to you three times the power of it (so no curses or black magic for me thanks).

I also find it really interesting relating the symbolising the gods and dieties of other religions to each other because they all seem related. I will listen to anyone who has something good to say about human nature and will not get involved in any discussion about which religion is the better one etc. Its pointless- we all come from one source: we just understand it differently.

Other elements i study are divination such as tarot and pendulums which is fun and usually accurate but not something i use regularly because your destiny is not definate. I beleive you have goals and you choose your path to reach them so whatever a divination tool says may be true but only if you take a certain path.

Im a GREAT believer in angels and fairies and spend alot of my time connecting with them and encouraging them to make themself known in my life.

I beleive in voluntary reincarnation and heaven but not hell. My view of heavan is that we create it through our own experiences on earth so people who murder create a place that fits their life and people who save peoples lives go to whatever place theyve created. That kind of fits in with the three fold rule again.

I also beleive their is no ultimate truth and that i could be talking rubbish- BUT this is what i feel and this is what helps me focus and suceed in life so whatever floats your boat. I dont really talk about it much though because its my personal views and i dont want to cause disrespect to anyone who beleievs diferently.

Genrally im a good girl, i dont eat babies and i dont worship the devil. I like to help people, the earth, animals and myself. I like to make them feel better and celebrate life, not destroy it.

ps. i dont wear alot of black either and im allergic to cats

I do believe in ghosts.

I have had some strange things happen when I am around places where people have died.

Usually it is something stupid like I will start to cry for no reason (usually this is even before I know someone has died in the place I am).

I also had one occasion where what I think was a spirit tried to harm me, I had marks around my neck for a week from where this "thing" had tried to hurt me. Needless to say I moved out of that house within a week of that happening.

I fully believe in ghosts, although that depends on what exactly a ghost is...

Some people believe them to be actual manifestations of a persons 'soul,' with conciousness, but since I have a hard time grasping or believing in the concept of souls, I prefer an alternate theory.

I believe that ghosts are psychic impressions, intense feelings, powerful emotions, a presence so strong it left a kind of ethereal 'fingerprint' of that person in a particular place.

I have seen what I believe to be ghosts twice in my life. And I have a very agreeable poltergeist in my apartment. Mostly, it's very predictable. Between 3 & 4am every few nights, I can hear the faint rustling of paper, like someone turning pages of a newspaper, in the corner of my bedroom. And on occasion, I'll hear footsteps or knocking in my hallway, but always when the door is shut. It's curious to me, because my apartment complex is actually a refurbished military base. And the disturbances I mentioned began to occur the night after we (U.S.) invaded Iraq. Possibly a connection? Maybe, but that would kind of kill my 'errant psychic impression' theory because it occurred corresponding to something that might have bothered my ghost...

I've had a few friends who 'claim' to have semi-psychic powers walk through my place. They affirm some kind of presence, but not neccesarily a friendly one. He hasn't bothered me yet, though it did kinda freak me out the first few times...I'll be moving out of that apartment in a few weeks, so maybe I'll finally get some sleep...

I have never really experienced anything, although it doesn't mean I don't believe in them. I've heard stories from friends and the subject never ceases to intrigue me. I think most ghosts are misunderstood. Poltergeists (sp) seem to be the only evil ones because they throw stuff, hehe.

Are you familiar with Gaia theory? not the hooey in the "Final Fantasy" movie (which I actually liked - but that wasn't Gaia theory even though it claimed to be).

It is one of the few things I will never see direct proof of that I do beleive, and I've found that many Wiccans and "semi-Wiccans" find it compelling as well.

edit: I posted this because of what you said about beleiving in the earth - nothing to do with ghosts... and pretty much nothing to with the paranormal in general.

The problem with the 3 fold rule is that many beleive it is meant to stop people from doing bad things such as curses etc..

HOWEVER I find it a bit rich that when casting a spell to help someone you can always expect to reap the benefits of this. Basically you are getting something from people even if they arent aware of it... now would you not say this is evil?

Also do you beleive someone who is evil is a bad person? Do you dislike/hate evil people and surely is it not your duty as a witch to rid the world of such evils?

This is why I am semi-wiccan, I am also evil. My friend recons I swing back and forth, I can agree with her.

One final thing on the 3 fold rule, I can choose to beleive whatever I want to beleive. If I beleive it enough then it happens. If I beleive the 3 fold rule to be non existent then I can do whatever I like and have no fear of it coming back to me. Think about it.

When i was about 13 i went on a tour of Alcatraz with my family. just like every trip we took before that, my brother and i started beatin the hell outta each other......well....he was beatin the hell outta me. During this we got seperated from the tour group (i was runnin for dear life with him on my heels).
we turned a courner and we botth stopped dead in our tracks, which was pretty impressive because once hes tasted blood......well anyone with an older sibling knows how it goes.
anyway, we didnt say anything to each other at the time, we simply turned around and found our parents.
few years ago i went back home for a visit and we had the family sitting around telling stories. the alcatraz trip came up and my brother and i told our story. for thee first time we talked about what we saw, and even after all those years later we both described the exact same thing.
whats odd is what we saww goes against everything you hear about ghost. we saw two whole figures, rather than just a floating torso or what have you. they appeared to both be wearing robes that were very bright in color (almost appeared to be illuminated). the one on the right was wearing a bright orange robe, the one on the left, bright blue. until we both sat there and described exactly the same thing, i thought maybe it was just my imagination gone wild at the time. but we were finishing each others sentences when telling about these two "figures"
it was very odd

Im an anti drug type of person- ive had bad experiences with other people taken them so i stay away from them. Anyway i wouldnt ay im anti evil. I dont even believe such a thing is real. How can you define yourself as good or evil? According to most people im evil. I think im actually really nice. Ive never gone out of my way to hurt anyone else intentionally etc etc blah blah. Im also very careful about doing spells for people because i dont expect stuff from them in return. I prefer it if i tell them what they could do to create a spell ie) ingrediants, process, chants, whatever and then make them do it so i dont dont get any fold stuff back. I mean, why would i want other peoples energy like that? No, i find it kinda icky. I dont think ive ever actually done a spell for someone, ie) cast it myself with their image in mind. Dont think they work very well.

ANYWAY!

How the hell did this get onto Witchcraft? Back to Ghosts!

Im in a really creept halls of residence this year. Im hoping for some activity he he he.

sorry to switch the subject back but, in my little knowlege of wicca i thought their was no good or evil their only two sides of a coin, because nature is neather good or evil its both.
Well as for ghosts, i have not seen one clearly, but my mum said when i was still in a cot she woke up and found be talking to a old lady that used to babysit me when she was working, the only thing was she died two days before, they did not find her body untill two days after, eek,
I have also had a few twinges ie really bad feelings in a place that have made me a little short of breath and want to get out ie in ny friends downstairs loo, the scary thing was that, their family used to live a few doors down before the lived there the prevous owners daughter slit her wrists there... another thing about that was that i could not look in the mirror in there it freaked me out.... eek was the fastest poo i ever did

Other odd things that happend in my parents house;
my little brother was 3 at the time.. started screaming in the bathroom in my parents house we had to break the lock on the door.. he said a scary man was making bad faces at him through the wall and would not use it any more (lucky we had two)

My little sister 8 was climbing up on a cooker to get to a cobard.. opend the door down... stood on the door.... ... and their was enough leverage to bring a very large cooker over. a baking tray managed to get out of the draw which was below the cooker up and wedge between the falling cooker and the door, the weight could of easily killed her.

When i was 8 my mum asked me to get a bottle of milk from the shop on th way back i had a day dream that i dropped the bottle on the floor in slow and it smashed and heard a car screach beside me i fased out of my day dream 2 mins later i altered where i was walking to the side where the shops were away from the road just intime to avoid the hands that tried to pull into a car, i droped the bottle and ran.

Me and my best friend after a loveley night out in a club got the night bus home but had a really bad feeling (was not drunk) so got off the bus and decided to walk the rest of the journey home (half an hour) as we were nearing home we came across a car accident site, a bus on its side, two people died.

I dont know if their are such things as ghosts or the supernatural or gods, and i dont think it is my place to say as a meare human being, if they do or not coz i dont truley know but i realy look forward to finding out.
hugs and smiles

Yeah the usual concept of witchcraft is that there is no such thing as good or evil, white or black magic but you get ur satanists who say they're evil blah blah. I dont really know. My religion isnt defined by others, is personal to me and i change what suits me. As long as im happy dont really care what other people or new age practitioners think... my faith improves Me, not them... lol. Back to the ghosties then! Woooooo looking forward t halloween. Im either going to be catwoman (again) or a sexy vampire. My costumes are usually quite explicit hence why i ran around the house as a playboy bunny last time... ende up meeting my current BF though so never mind.

as for satinist, i have a little bee in my bonnet about them.... wicca as y know has nothing to do with satan coz satan is a christian idea, as for the bloke with the goat horns that would be bahomet (sorry spelt wrong) god of plenty/fertility
A upsidedown pentagram does not repesent evil its summoning or chaos depending on the context, the other way protection balance
The term satanists performing black magic was brought about by the romans after turning christian, in a attempt to destroy pagianism.

AS mr manson said in a interview with jonathan ross
Jonathan ross: So we all wanna know are you a a satanist
Maralyn: well my wife wares allot of satin so you could call me a satinist
Me: much laughter

OOps sorry i did it again, but i would love to hear more of your perspectives of religon n stuff i know very little about wicca but would love to know more, i love the study of religon and belief systems as well as symbology smile
