ahem! i'm a girl!

i just bought a flashy shiney new laptop online just 5 minutes ago

and just to let you know... i'm going to (hopefully - contracts aren't signed yet) be moving house at the end of the month. my new abode is a 2bed apartment in a castle-style mansion on 4 acres of garden & woodland with an outdoor heated pool. there are 6 apartments in total in the mansion & as far as i know they're all occupied by artists, photographers etc. so it's the perfect setting for an amazing summer fire party!!!

Hey Bazz, long time no chat!
As you know I left the old microbiology on the back burner last year, so in the time since: I've been upskilling!
Quite soon you shall have the choice to call me "Martin, THE WELDER" , or just regular martin.
Halfway through a course at the moment learning how to do stick, MIG, TIG and gas welding, so I'll be able to make lots of lovely toys out of stainless or mild steel or aluminium.

But at the moment I'm just getting over the tail end of a chest/sinus/throat infection and had to go to hospital last thursday to get an endoscopy done (without sedation ) cos my tummy still has a bit of an ow-ey

I'm just back from Koh Pha Ngan now (it's 5.30am and I'm sitting in an internet cafe in Bangkok cos the guesthouses are full).



It's been a brilliant trip... so much inspiration and lovely people.

nop... it was never off just put off for a wee while.... the only problem is that we arnt having it in feb so we are just tring to come up with a date that suits so if anyone has any ideas??????????????? Oh baz im gonna be in dublin at the start of march ~(my friends band biomechinical are plaing) so if you want to go....or meet up for a spin / drink / smoke....

Tír na nÓg, called in English the Land of Eternal Youth or the Land of the Ever-Young, was the most popular of the Otherworlds in Irish mythology, perhaps best known from the myth of Oisín and Niamh of the Golden Hair. It was where the Tuatha Dé Danann or sídhe settled when they left Ireland's surface, and was visited by some of Ireland's greatest heroes. Tír na nÓg is similar to other mythical Irish lands such as Mag Mell and Ablach.

Tír na nÓg was considered a place beyond the edges of the map, located on an island far to the west. It could be reached by either an arduous voyage or an invitation from one of its fairy residents. The isle is visited by various Irish heroes and monks in the echtrae (Adventure) and immram (Voyage) tales popular during the Middle Ages. This otherworld is a place where sickness and death do not exist. It is a place of eternal youth and beauty. Here, music, strength, life and all pleasurable pursuits come together in a single place. Here happiness lasts forever, no one wants for food or drink. It is the Celtic equivalent of the Greek Elysium or the Valhalla of the Norse. There is a very short reference to it in the highly popular 1997 film Titanic.

Tír na nÓg plays a major role in the tale of Oisín and Niamh. To get to Tír na nÓg an adventurer needed a guide, in Oisín's case, Niamh plays the role. They travel together to the Blessed Realm and the hero spends some time there. Eventually homesickness set in and Oisín wants to return to his native land. He is devastated to learn a hundred years have passed in Ireland since he had been with Niamh, though it seemed to him only one. He can see Ireland from the back of Niamh's magical horse, but she warns him not to touch the ground, as the weight of all those years would descend upon him in a moment. Oisín doesn't heed the advice, and he instantly withers away into an old man. It is suggested that Oisín fell from his horse in the area of Elphin, County Roscommon. Oisin was able to tell Saint Patrick his story and be blessed before dying. This story bears a striking similarity to many other tales, including that of Urashima Taró.

Tír na nóg means "land of youth" - a fabled land where no-one grows old! Mainly remembered in the stories about Oisin and Niamh - a brief description can also be found at: Wikipedia's entry on Tír na nóg - which seems consistent with what I was taught in school!

Hello All!

Nice to see there are some good people here:)
I just arrived to Dublin and will stay for a few months.
I looked around the internet and it seems that this is the only site for finding location for playing poi.
Do you have a site for goa/psytrance parties here in Ireland as well? I searched, but really couldnt find one.

HEY ruhrpoi , have a look at the temple bar music centre (https://www.tbmc.ie/site/content.php?ID=1), or the vaults(https://www.thevaults.ie/) they should have some psytrance comming up soon. and if they dont, the venues have flyers for other psytrance parties.

Claire, it was a megical time. sounds like youre not doing too bad on your travels when are you back with us on the emerald isle.

HAHA robs got his "poi"orities straight...most of us cant juggle without use of a certain herb (speaking for myslef of course) Neutronyx tend to do a psytrance night first friday of every month, Goa is a bit harder to find, not many aging crusty hippies landed in ireland after the acid washout of the 70's......Barry stall over anytime you like...

Hello m'lovelies...

Had an absolutely incredible time in Thailand... it was fantastic to spend time with Nick, Drew, Ronan, Maddi, Andrea, Bryan, MK, Tom, Dai, Gordon, Dan, Krista, Jessica.... yeep!!! So much inspiration and lovely company



Ronan, btw, has been practicing like a demon for the past few months (even though he didn't really need it)... and is absolutely awesome... woohoo



So, I'm all ready to start another interesting year... and hope to see you guys somewhere along the way... UberParis? EJC? Bristol?! Might even make it to Galway or Tralee this year







But, in the meantime, I'm trying to get a couple of special workshops sorted out in Belfast for the end of the month.



Hopefully, sometime around February 23/24/25 we'll have Strugz and a very special Irish staffer (who hasn't confirmed yet) teaching a staff workshop...



Lisa and I have been asked about taking staff workshops for ages, and we don't really feel we can teach it... so this should be an opportunity for all staffer-types to learn from the best...



Not sure about the cost yet, but it will be a great day... numbers will be limited, so please let me know if you're interested as soon as possible.



[Also, there may be another staff uberclass organised later in the year with Scottishy-types... will let you know.]



And then, around March 2/3/4 I'm hoping to have Messers Bluecat and Ronan teaching an incredible poi workshop...



I don't need to say how utterly wicked this workshop would be, but again, numbers will be limited, so let me know if you're interested as soon as you can...





Both these dates are just suggestions, nothing has been confirmed yet, and this post is just to see how many people would be interested in taking the class...

Oops...



Forgot to say...



At the beginning of December, we took part in the Beat Initiative Lantern Parade through Belfast... with a bit of help from the slackers Durbs and Strugz from Burnt Toast ( )



Anyways, Oisin from Dublin came up to take part... it was being filmed by TG4 and they were looking for fluent Irish speakers...



So, the programme is being aired tomorrow night (Wednesday 31st January) on TG4 - 'Scéalta Sráide'.



The programme airs before 6:30pm, at approx 6:20/6:25pm.



I don't get TG4 here, so won't see it til the programme makers send me the DVD - can some of you guys watch it and let me know how it looks?

Any meets happening any time soon? I need some help/guidance?!?!?!?!?!

I've come to a halt with wat i can do with my poi! Its really annoying me cuz i see all these pimp vids on the net, i dont have a clue how they're doin it! I need some1 to spin with, tell me wat i should try and learn next, tell me were i'm goin wrong! Obviously vice versa if i can! Any1 up for it lemmie know.
