Location: USA, wishing I was in SA
you'd think that because this country not only owned a piece of the polynesians , but just because of its sheer size and population (260 million) that there would be atleast a few fire spinners around somewhere?
im new to the us of a , and im sure that if i realy look hard that i could find a few poi'ers , however the trick is to find anyone anywhere near you....
anyways ... comments , questions and statments on how to spread poi like wild fire across this country ... post 'em here...

I know what you mean man, I've only ever seen two other poiers in my life, none of my friends had even heard of it when I told them what I was getting into.

My advice is to get really good, (or a level whereby someone who knows nothing thinks you're really good) and go round the place burning in public places. Pretty soon you'll have a band of willing disciples who will give up their lives as humble fishermen, and pledge their eternal souls to you.
Or something.

I know north carolina has a very respectable burningman community (and a couple of very talented fire sculpters), so I suspect there is someone around not so far from you. just a matter of finding them, as you kinda gotta hide your freak side in that part of the country.

go to burningman.com and lookup the burner's directory there. you won"t find fire performers exclusively per say, but you do have a good chance of finding a commiunity that is going to have a high density of them.
I suppose you've tried seaching for north carolina in the "meet others" database here on HoP too?

I mean the old one, not the new one, since there are a lot of old timers that still spin but haven't visited HoP since the updated database was implimented.

hmm, I don't see an obvious way to navigate to the old database - that is a shame. Perhaps I should ask Dom to look into that.
