Just quick post to say Hi to everyone.

Just got into poi, been doing it for about 2 months now, and after looking at some of the videos posted I am very impressed.
I can see why I set my hair on fire last week. Need alot more practice.

If everything seems under control, your not going fast enough!

Thanks for the welcome.

I live in NW London.

Am a keen kitesurfer, been doing it for around 5yrs now.

Unemployed at the moment as I went to the U.S. to set a kitesurf business up, that didn't go according to plan, so spent the winter in OZ.
That's where I got into poi. One of the girls in the hosel I was staying in, did a display one night, thought it looked cool so took so lessons from here.
Not sure why I continued as after the first 10 mins of practising, got hit in the nuts hard, much to the amusement to the rest of the people in the hostel. redface

Did my first burn about a month ago, second last week, again much to the amusement of every one watching.
Thanks for the hat advice. thankx

I think glo poi will be a safe idea until I can master it. Keep hitting myself to often.

Any thing else you want to know?

How long have you lot been spinning for, so I have a rough idea of the pain and suffering I need to go though. smile smile smile

if you practice often I reckon three months is good time to stop having so many bruises and bumps. But they never really leave you, they become your friends ubblove

If you get poi that are really hard and hurt you lots it'll give you extra encouragement not to hit yourself so often wink

This maybe a silly question but where abouts in Clapham common, and at what time. Didn't really need the first bit, I suppose it's where everyone is spinning poi. ubbidea

Can't make this weekend, but should be OK for next.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

It's OK vixen no offence taken.
The rain might be a good thing, as my burns don't normally go according to plan.

Hello, welcome, blah blah blah.

I'll cut to the chase. You NEED to come to [Old link] and teach me how to kite surf. Been wanting to do it for ages.

Thanks. biggrin

Good to see your burns are not turning you off Poi, its a shame when something like a little bit of pain puts someone off a fabulous experiance. But I guess when you play with fire.....

Anyway... Welcome! And good luck with your fire twirling! ubbrollsmile

I smile because i have no idea whats going on!! biggrin

Nah, beaches on the south coast are far far nicer than the ones up north. Fistral, while having great surf, is so full of tourists that it's best to steer well clear.

As far as accidents go, i repeatedly catch my trousers on fire. That'll teach me to cover myself in paraffin. biggrin
