I have no words...it is just disgusting!
"FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A clown who goes by the name of "Spanky" has been arrested on child pornography charges while traveling with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, federal agents said.
Thomas Riccio, 23, of Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested Friday by Fayetteville police and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to face 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, the federal agency said Tuesday.
Leads from a federal investigation in New Jersey linked Riccio to a company in Belarus that provided credit card billing services for more than 50 child pornography Web sites internationally, said Immigrations and Customs Enforcement spokesman Dean Boyd.
Police and federal agents searched Riccio's computer and found thousands of images, many involving young children participating in sexual acts, authorities said.
About 100 people have been arrested in the United States based on the Belarus investigation and 100 others were arrested in Denmark earlier this year, he said. "
Well, at least he was aptly named for his future.

I think that child abuse is the lowest form of scumminess.
I mean, rape and murder etc. are also horrible, but anyone who intentionally harms a child...
I can't think of a punishment that's bad enough.

That's awful...but how is this linked to the circus apart from the worked at a couple? It's not really fair to link it with the circus name, I'm sure they had no knowledge of it.

CB, he was one of their clowns, arrested on tour. That is how it is linked. Graduate from clown college, put in the ring before the crowds each night to interact closely with children. I am sure they had no knowledge of it either, which is part of what makes it so tragic.

No kidding, though I think they were on two different legs of the tours (RB&BB have seperate touring companies all going at the same time). Either way, wait for one more thing before you apply...they say things happen in threes, right?

Actually, somewhere around here I have a link to his mugshot, and he is pretty scary as a clown (the photo's were side by side).
They are saying that he is going to be not fighting this and entering a plea of guilty because of the inarguable evidence against him, fully legally obtained.
If he is pleading guilty, damn straight I am judging him, but at least I am judgemental with a purpose, I wait to see what happens.

I think ol' boy needs to have his penis nailed to a log, have the log set on fire,and then hand him a butter knife. Normaly i would'nt waste fire on someone but i think this is a special case.

Pele, now who's jumping to conclusions? I just wanted to know where exactly you found the info out. When you said it was in a forum that made it hearsay. How is that defending this guy?
I look forward to you posting the link to let us know where it was written that he's chosen to plead guilty.

I don't think it's as much about defending the guy as about not fueling the current knee jerk hysteria that occurs whenever paedophilla is suspected.
There are a lot of people who've had their lives and careers ruined by an accusation that is found to be false when it's investigated.
(I'm speaking from a UK perspective here, maybe in the US there's a more reasonable approach from the media and general public, but in the UK it's more like a witch hunt).

No, Dave. It's a witch-hunt here. However IF he is guilty, I like some of the more creative, cruel, and unusual punishments that were thought up here.

I don't like the knee jerk reaction purely because it has damaged the lives of individuals who were innocent.
Anyone whose work involves young people is very vulnerable to this, by the time an accusation is shown to be false, a considerable amount of damage has been done.
Also the media approach when celebraties are concerned.
But I personally was pretty appalled by Chris Morris's 'Brass Eye' special when it was broadcast on British TV.
Regardless of any questions about it being in bad taste, it was IMO totally unfunny

Being a doctor is NOT the same as being a saint.
Believe me.
Oh, and being gay, I'm terrified that someone's going to decide to accuse me of molesting a boy just because they don't like gay people, or for whatever reason.
I've already been accused of sexual inappropriateness with a simulated patient. She accused me of staring at her breasts. I actually had to come out to the head of the department to defend myself (but wow, did that defense work well!).

I think Brasseye was genius. The intention was to highlight the hysteria that can be generated by the media blundering into a situation and trying to help, and causing ignorance instead of enlightenment.
Such as Rebekah Wade's (now editor of UK's The Sun, at the time Editor of it's Sunday version The News of the World, both owned by Mr Rupert Murdoch) "Name and Shame" campaign against Paedophiles that directly resulted in several innocent man being horrifcally beaten.
She has taken her obsession with Paedophilia to The Sun, our most jingoistic of organs. Yet only a month ago that very paper ran an article, a "World Exclusive" no less, about how Emma Watson, the 14 year old girl who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films is "growing up" and has "turned into a teen beauty". The hack responsible even muses on the possibility of her having romantic scenes in the next film, and quizzes Emma on which adults she fancies!
