Hi guys,

I've been wandering round the site for a while now, but I only got round to registering today, cos I just got a move I've been trying for a while after reading one of the forums (3-beat weave w/ double staffs - it hurts a bit, but it just about works)

I've been spinning for a good few years now, but only seriously for the last 2 years or so... staffs only - I've got too much going on to play with more than one toy - although I sometimes juggle and do really bad poi.

The rest of the time I'm mostly playing with music - I'm doing a PhD about getting computers to jam, playing drums, writing wierd electronic music, doing soundtracks for shows or just chilling and having a listen. Recently I've been listening to a bit of jazz, some electronica, lots of dub, and come classical, but I listen to most things, really.

I'm living in edinburgh, which I'd recommend to anyone - my life's taken off since I moved here. I'm also getting involved with the Beltane celebrations up here, so maybe I'll see some of you on Calton hill this year...

Looking forward to meeting you guys!

happy spinning,
dave

hehehe.... I'm not taking any staves so they should leave me alone. It's just that my colleague claims my bag weighs 40 kg (which is impossible cause I can lift it with one hand, maybe he means pounds... no idea), that gets me a bit worried about Ryanair.

Hullo Dave! How goes the silks?

I can still do that scary doubles spinny thing which hurts your shoulders what you taught me! Which makes me do this biggrin

Still not got the thread the needle thing yet though. frown But its getting there.

My sticks are going to Tatton this afternoon (with me of course!) so I shall practise lots this weekend since I'm not allowed to go on the battlefield. (Blimmin physiotherapists) Then can I bribe you to teach me more stuff?

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

Silks are lovely... ubblove need to play more, though... (fortunately I have the d-street key next week, so much dangling will be done...)

Always up for more teaching/playing. (You can tell by the way that all the workshops I've done have overrun, with me saying "Oooh oooh oooh, can I just show you this quickly...) I was thinking of doing lunchtime workshops, although that might suck for people with jobses. If aerial's stopped, I could maybe do mondays before fire. I seem to be mostly away till august, though, so that could be tricky.

And I don't have the TTN solid yet, and I've been doing it for a year and a bit...

Happy spinning!

Oh, and bregerieedtt (sorry, birgit, been reading the name misspelling thread and thought I'd give you a whole new misspelling) it wasn't my sticks that set of the explosives detectors, it was my contact balls. Go figure? I'd put anything remotely paraffinny in the hold as that doesn't get checked. Because noone would think to put a bomb in their hold baggage. Obviously...

This thread seems to be wierd - I definitely replied to Mags, and molly's reply definitely wasn't there earlier on (I tend to notice primates. And queeens). But as we all know, linear time is an illusion, and time really has four corners (https://www.timecube.com)

So to bring things up to date:

- I can't make Fal 4... just saw some vids of fal3 which looked lovely (guitar sounded lovely too... wink ) so I'm dead jealous. Waiting for fal5. And hi Mags!

- I am a little short on monkeys. And more are always good. So, yay!

Nah, you don't drool enough! tongue

I'm kidding, I'm kidding!

Sunburnt and sleepy and got utterly soaked in a thunderstorm yesterday (best way to clear battlefield that one. Armour, chainmail and sword + lightning = eek) but a good weekend was had, and my new transportation device is lovely! My stickage however is still rather pants. My left arm decided to not work. The rain of singed insects was most amusing however. ubblol

You not off to Glasto with the rest of em?

Nah, I'm not cool enough to go play at glasto frown wink

Saw some wierd electrical activity over the weekend too - flashes of light, with no obvious source, no thunderclap. Strange. Then the rain came down, the river rose at least two feet (and it was quite a big river) and parties of schoolkids had to be helicoptered to safety eek .

Good camping trip, though biggrin

Hellos lovely

We had lightning at Tara too. It was very exciting. We were all standing on top of a hill with lots of people with staves as forked lightning lit up the countryside around us biggrin

Then it started to rain frown

But it was ok, because the sun shone brilliantly on Sunday and dried our clothes nicely.

:satisfiedsigh:

Am sending hugs... which are crap compared to the real thing, but you get the idea biggrin

That would be highly amusing. Also particularly dangerous... but highly amusing too.

And as for footage of Tara... I think Strugz or Nate took some pretty pictures - which may or may not include the occasional comedy f*ck up biggrin

I'll mail you the stories tomorrow... but now it's time for a bath. With my ball wink

I smell.

(and not even of paraffin... just random smelliness)

Hugs and goodnights

How can you tell that there's a drummer knocking on the door?

The knocking speeds up half way through

How do you know when the stage is level?

The drummer dribbles out of both sides of his mouth...

How do you know when a singer's at the door?

Can't find the key and doesn't know when to come in...

What's 500 drumkits in the North Sea?

A good start.

How many drummers can you fit in a mini?

4, but put a singer in and 20 will creep up his arse.

What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?

Homeless.
