Hey Pogo,
HOP no longer sell the electroglo staff or poi but you can get them from the manufacturer in Australia www.juggleart.com they can be pretty hard to get hold of though, so good luck. ubbrollsmile

just for info:

the Electroglo Staff is really really light and flyway. Its cool for jumping about spinning fast (and fantastic for spinny doubles stuff) but totally lacks the momentum you want for slower stuff or contact. i recommend putting some extra weight in the rubber caps. Dizzy\Uzeall has washers stuck in the ends of his, which work just dandy.

They're really pretty, a different look from the usual garish strobey flashy equipment. But they are a bit dim.

You work better if you stuff washers up both your ends?

Yes. That sounds about right.

Aerotech do accept the shekel don't they? confused

hmm, looks pretty good

Non-Https Image Link

and at a fraction of aerotech prices.

Have you played with one? Do they feel lovely and stickish, or wobbly flimsy like?

looks chunkier than aerotech (good thing) but a bit more breakable (bad thing)

AND its 5ft only, which i consider a not good thing because

x) when i want glow equipment its for indoor parties which are all crowdy, and even 4fts can feel too long. (Did some world class people-dodging at the last Synergy with Dizzy's electroglo sticks. Sometimes lack of momentum can be a very good thing biggrin )

and

y) 5ft is too big for doubles, despite claims that certain 'taller than the average monkey' doublists might make tongue

but to sum up: Its a big cylinder that flashes pretty colours. thus i want it ubbangel

Simian,

I was in Santa Cruz in May of this year where I met the guy who was designing these staffs, and had a chance to play with the prototype. There ok, my only concern is the durability of the lights.

They are individual LED light sticks (or at least were at the time) inside a length of polycarbon tubing and the lights were sold by this company as poi, but they did say not to do butterfly with them as they break easily.

The staff it's self was reasonably heavy and as most of these glow staffs are quite slippery due to the plastic tubing, nothing some form of grip couldn’t overcome. I guess one advantage (for us(if they've not wired all the light sticks together) is there are a couple of shops in Camden Market which sell the light sticks individually so if one did break it would be easy to replace or if you wanted to change the colours.

D peace

I guess Simian hasn't heard of the little leprechaun over here in NZ who likes doing 1.4 metre doubles. Shame on you Simian, Shame!

1.4m?

Isn't that 4 foot? confused Thats exactly how long i like my doubles.

unless you actually meant 14m

i'll admit that would be impressive.

whoops, no.

1.4 metres = 4.59 feet

but still not the full 5 feets.

Could start wibbling on about implications of length for double staff, but that'd be thread hijacking.

*glances upward*

oops... well, it'd be even more blatant thread hijacking ubbangel
