as long as you've got a cheeky grin on your face I've found you can get away with saying almost anything. You do have to get the balance between gentleman and humour/innuendo right though.

I went to a festival recently with my ex (don't know what I was thinking), and a few other mates. Discovered on the way there she'd hooked up with one of the people we were going with, a mate of mine. Not very pleasant. I mean, we're still mates and everything, and I am over her, but it just kind of accentuated my hideous singleness, and being on my own in a tent with the two of them in a tent next door was really horrible

How's this for single suckiness -
One time I went back to the house I used to live to meet friends for a night out.
At the end of the night
My ex-flatmate and his fiance was in his bedroom...
My friend and her 'playmate' were in my old bedroom
My friend (whom I had a crush on), his ladyfriend and I were on the sofabed in the living room.
After a few minutes I gave up the sofa bed for my crush and his ladyfriend (to get jiggy) and went to sleep in the front storeroom... No I didn't sleep well that night...
