I'm a bit curious about this myself...

Basically, the way I do this is to turn my torso slightly to one side and basically make a really small tight turn and reverse the weave. You can do this without actually moving your feet at all, and could probably smooth it out to where the turn isnt too noticeable.

Anyone have a slicker way of doing a wrapless change of weave direction?

Oh, and no offence, but generally if you ask a question on a board/newsgroup/email list, its very bad form to ask people to email you privately on a topic very much appropriate to the board as:
1- Other people would probably be interested in the answer
2- You're basically saying you want other people to spend time helping you but cant be bothered to take the time to bookmark a thread and check up on it.

Cheers,
-A.

If you don't mind doing it in a couple of stages, you can force the poi into a windmill or corkscrew (corkscrew's probably easier) and then into the (opposite direction) weave. Other than doing it in stages, I think you're going to have to stop them somehow.

cheers you two, i'll have a go. btw, if anyone is interested, when you go to the side when doing reverse 3beat weave it forms the same shape as when doing 5, this can be turned into forwards 5if you twist you hands back round each other and go back across your body. have fun! love liam

Heh. Nice bump.

This is covered a few times in the technical section, but you can either break it down the same way you learned the forward (I assume you can do forward?) weave, but with under switched to over and over switched to under.

The other method I know if is simply turning around with a forward weave and letting the poi continue spinning in the direction that they were already going. That works for some people, but is likely to lead to poiface.

ty for the help, i am still struggling with it though. turns out that when i go to turn around with it or just go into it reverse my hands automatically make it normal. i think it might be that me being the way i am i learned so many different things at once that i didnt focus on the necessitys. im not going to give up hopefully the new fabric poi i bought from HOP will help. thx for the help and im always open to new techniques or advice.

Try approaching it the same way you learned the forward weave, except you will be moving under, over, back with each hand. It will take some time to get, but is worth it.

3 beat with an extra twist in the wrists. So 3 spins on the opposite side, 2 on normal side. (3bt is 2 on opposite, 1 on normal.)

Monkey fists lfeel nicer and more natural with point isolations than the cathedral heads.

Weight is the major factor there for me.
