Hi Malcolm, my name is Carolyn I live in Australia, have been doing poi for about 4 years, have run a few workshops at festivals and in my hometown. I have also taught it as a sport in the primary and high school locally for only a term at each. They have had a break of it for a term at the high school and are thinking of doing it as a sport again next term. Though it seems one of the teachers with some sort of say on the matter contends that poi is not a sport, you know they play ping pong as a sport and wait their turn for that, every kid that does poi with me have their own pois and i keep them engaged the whole time. I have looked for a bit of info on the internet and have found a bit of info on poi as a sport in wikipedia and Maori stuff. You know they accept yoga as a sport here, dancing and skate boarding. I can get up such a heart rate personally doing poi, have gotten heaps flexible etc. i just think it is a great injustice to not consider it a sport when ping pong is o.k. What are your thoughts on the matter or can you help me out with some more info regarding it as a sport.

Pete. NO WAY.

OK. So, Malcolm. I have to take the National Pediatrics Board the 27th of October. I was planning on flying into Christchurch on the 31st (or maybe 1/2 because Halloween in SF is a lot of fun and I don't want to miss it). I know it's right after the World Gathering, but that's all I can do. frown

So maybe Pete and I bump into each-other there. Peteyboy, you are on my "must meet" list.

i rekon we could arrange something.. after i fly into christchurch my plans get very vague, exceedingly quickly.. i guess it mostly depends on how flat i am for cash, in which case i may have to quickly run back to aus and find a job.. or i guess i could become a farmhand on a kiwi farm.. never know smile

also.. im now at jon and skullys.. thought you might like to know tongue nana wink

I have several large jars of the stuff. I actually like it... a little. And don't tell anyone I admitted to it.
