So, if you are like most people who have some damaged Zuni poi, try this little tip to get some more life out of them.
Cut the streamer tail off of the poi. Sew it onto the bag. Presto-chango, you now have a UV-reactive tail that you can easily attach to your fire poi or staff. Just use the drawstring to hold it in place.
Wrap the beanbag heads in duct tape to keep the beans from falling out and then attach the tails back on with the bag-streamers just like you would to fire poi.
