I have a fire staff and have been using it for a year now. I was wanting to try and start learning contact staff tricks. I was wondering what length and weight would be good for someone just starting out on contact moves. I've tried to learn a few but my staff is so light it's hard to balance it. Currently the staff I use is a non-contact staff and it's 1400mm long.

When I order a contact staff should I get a longer one or not? Does having a longer, more weighted staff make contact moves easier? Any info will help!

longer/heavier = slower .. shorter/lighter = faster

But you always have to balance it according to your proportion like
physical strength, how tall you are, how much you can extend your
arm etc...
