Last night I had my first burn and I used tiki torch fuel and it worked. This may be a dumb question, but are the poi supposed to turn black afterwards or not?

I found the answer to my question through google. But, what do you guys do about getting all the black charcol-like burn stuff all over you? It's really messy and hard to clean. And there was quite a bit on my clothes last night that I hope will come off

I use dish soap to get it off my skin, or an abrasive soap like Lava. For clothes it depends on the fiber, but i usually wear black or ratty clothing when i spin to avoid the issue.

This. Usually black and ratty for me.
Doubly useful since we usually spin fire on the beach.
