I try to break it down to 2 horizontal floats, with the poi doing a half circle on each side. Then try to change your hand path into a unit circle, rather than a set of lines.

Try taking your vertical cateye, and shift it little by little so it goes diagonal, then eventually horizontal. Make sure to try to keep the circular motion with your hands, though you will notice that as you shift towards horizontal, the tension points move, and they go from 2 (or 1 if you have a really clean cateye) to 3 for the horizontal one.

Definitely do this one poi at a time, before trying to incorporate two hands.

Grab a staff and try doing horizontal line isolations, to get the feel for it as well.

Line isolations are expanded cateye movements. ^_^

^^ That's a good one, MNS. Alternatively you can do the same with a club, which is essentially a hard poi.
