Posted: Hi, I have been performing with fire for several years now. I use fire poi, fans, fingers, and staff. I also do fire eating and a little blowing when the mood strikes me. I am now wanting to implement the flags into my shows. Anyone out there have any instruction on how they are constructed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, in the fire's glow, Lady Pheonix of Dragon Trybe.

Posted: If you do a quick search about them you should find that this very topic has been covered in depth a couple of times. Use the little search "button" under the Post New Topic area for quickest results. I enjoy my flags immensely and have used them when fire isn't permitted. Best of luck.------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...[This message has been edited by Pele (edited 15 May 2001).]

Posted: ya know, phoenix, actually, you should disregard the flag instructions here - we talked about them before, but they don't really work very well. we just recently found a place that makes them so they really work, and they're so cool.now, before i tell you where, i have to give you the huge disclaimer that the site is hokey unless you marched in highschool. even certified bandgeeks would prolly find some of the stuff nerdy, but!you'd be surprised how similar colorguard stuff is to poi. anyway: www.bandshoppe.com and you should look at chain flags. they're new this year. you can either buy them there (they're not expensive) or you can make them - they have a very good illustration so you can see how they're made. i'm going to buy my flags, but i'm not going to buy my chain, because i like my own better so i'm going to grommet the ends of the flags and clip them on. but anyway, you'll get the point. also, incidentally, if you do staff at all, it's also a good place to get staff lengths (flag poles). they're nicer than home depot aluminum tubing, and they're cheap too. good luck!
Posted: You guys are great. I found all the discussions, looked at all the web sites, and will attempt to make me a set very soon. I Will be going out of town next week to do a show for Memorial weekend. but when I get back, a trip to the fabric store is on my list. Love and Light, Lady Pheonix
