ERIN, Wis. -- Authorities arrested a man and were searching for a teenager after vandals spraypainted a historic monastery with the number 666 and the phrase "Happy Birthday Satan."
The vandalism was discovered Wednesday at Holy Hill National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, Sheriff Brian Rahn said.
"Hell on Earth" was spray painted in red on the front door, and a pitchfork and "666" was on the walls, Lt. Steve Gonwa said. Some link the numbers "666" to the Antichrist. Tuesday's date was 6-6-06.
Another entrance had been painted with an obscenity and "Happy Birthday Satan," Gonwa said. Outdoor statues involving the cross were also defaced.
The man was arrested Wednesday after a car carrying him and five other males was stopped at the shrine entrance. Four of the men were released, and police were searching for a 17-year-old who ran into the nearby woods.
Holy Hill, a U.S. registered landmark, is a shrine-church-monastery complex about 25 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
Restoration could cost tens of thousands of dollars, the sheriff said.
"It's a sick mentality," said the Rev. Cyril Guise, the shrine's director

The number of the beasts is not a triple six. It is six hundred and sixty-six. There is a difference.
In Hebrew (and Greek, I believe), it takes four charactors to write the number 666, while it takes only three in arabic numerals. To a hebrew or greek reader, they would not see three sixes, they would see four letters that mean six hundred and sixty-six.
Did anything bad actually happen on 06/06/06? So far I haven't heard of anything. I figure if I was a devil worshiper I'd round up some stray cats and have a party, but I haven't heard any interesting stories in the news yet (except the one about the baby Damien).

to be honest, i have no idea, i thought it was a biblical thing, but i'm not exactly sure where it comes from, or why they have been associated with satan in various other pieces of literature (which would be where i got it from...)

Not sure about Adam im not sure hes ever been consider evil, unless you count Adam bing flawed by being tempted into eating the forbiden fruit by Eve.
The Damien thing just came from the Omen, it was very influencial when it was first released and soon afterwards it resulted in more bibles being sold than ever in history lol

Adam is the name of the Antichrist in Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's book "Good Omens" Read it, its ace.

probably my favourite book ever but i thought they might have had a deeper reason behind it. I am disappointed that damian only comes from the film which i have never seen, but what the hell, i stand by my postmodern cultural referencing for the naming of my hypothetical child which won't happen now unless i am still alive in 100 years time.
