Posted: Just wanted to say thanks to anyone here who goes to the Bournemouth spin on on Tuesdays evenings. Had my first proper go with the staff there last night and i learnt tons. I even learnt some new rhythms for my djembe (oh how my neighbours are going to hate me!) . Everyone was real friendly and very helpfull, i especially liked the way that so many members of the public stopped by to watch, even the pensioners who thoroughly enjoyed watching the fire spinning up on the side street. They even made a point of thanking us all at the end and saying how nice it was that they were made comfortable enough to stay there amongst a big group of youngsters, which i guess is a rareity these days.
Apart from learning some new stuff to teach my kids, the highlight of my night had to be the local police coming over and reminding us all not to have any alcohol in public if we happened to have any. Yeah never mind the gallons of parrafin people were in possesion of ready for the fire later....you just watch that beer!
Anyway, a great night for myself which i hope to repeat as often as possible.

Nice to here you has a good time in bournemouth, we were trying to get down there again this week but ended up in london.
Bournemouth is a great place to spin for sure..........
I like the police story there is a reason behind all that though (for any others thinking of strting a meet based on "nice coppers")
Before Frodo started that meet - wow it must be two years ago now, he sat in many boring council meetings with the local police to get permission for us to burn in the street in the town center - it took alot of hardwork on his part but its obviously paid off as we have never been moved on down there and fire is always allowed
Which for a busy town centre - is a bloody great feat i rekon
Dont know why i decided to bring that up, maybe its just because sometimes i feel that the work put in to get this meet where it is is unknown by new comers
Anyhow - glad you enjoyed, will catch you there soon no doubt

Posted: Hi Strugz,
I'm glad you did mention that, as you say, a lot of people will just think that its a group of people who turn up and are'nt fussed about whether you are allowed to do fire or not. Also its nice to know that the police are aware and ok with it. I'm not saying i'm a goody goody, but i for one can see myself getting addicted to this spinning lark, however i would'nt be turning up somewhere where i'm likely to get arrested every five minutes! I can see it only as a positive thing for the place as it attracts so many visitors when we are doing it. I bet they would'nt think twice about mentioning it in a tourists information brochure on the area.
Thanks again for the info, and yeah i'm sure we'll meet one Tuesday evening.

Blushes!!
OFF TOPIC ME!!
Calv, they tried to shut the spin down at the begining, but it got dealt with, now they try and advertise the spin as theres (the council that is), but im sure if anything happened, they would pass the buck down to me.
I am the named person for the spin, and if anything happens i get a call from the council. *the joys*, so do please try and promote the origins, and ideals of the spin, ie, keep ur drink in ur bag, and then the spin can continue!
they are always looking for someway to shut it down!!
passing through, this world still lives.
